|
|
I am an Australian citizen in the process of applying for an intensive language program in South Korea. From my research I understand that I'll be placed on the general student visa, or a D-4, which means I apparently cannot work.
My question is, is this right that I am not allowed to work for the duration of a D-4 visa, and if this is the case, is it possible to get a student loan in Korea? |

Short answer....no. Why would a bank give you a loan when you have no collateral and virtually no incentive whatsoever to stay in Korea and pay it back?
You would be better to get a personal loan in Australia, or just teach private English lessons illegally on the side and fore go the loan altogether. |

The reason I ask is because Australia provides loans to international students. It was worth a shot. Thanks.
Another question...is it easy to get work? |

Don't know about Australia, but Canada gives student loans to Canadian students studying abroad in universities. Just call your respective agency and find out. Also I'm not sure if they give student loans to study in language programs. Just call and ask. |

How much are the language programs? Are they expensive? Tuition, living, food, etc? Do they work? Think, maybe I'd be a level 2; so if I wanted to become a level 3 or 4 on TOPIK; will these language programs be effective through intense study? I assume intermediate study would be mostly conducted in Korean? |
