Spirit - one of the most influential bands of all time. One of
thier guitar pieces were 'borrowed' by Jimmy Page for "Stairway to Heaven". Many bands copied their musical style.

They are an amazing band and sadly often overlooked. I picked up Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus in a dollar bin at a thrift store and have been hooked.

The Growlers

Swamp-pop swirling up from the depths of California, The Growlers surf-tinged, Goth-edged rock and roll manages to be both lush and lo-fi at once.

One of the members of this band told me a story about Bill Murray walking into the bar they were playing at the SXSW music festival. According to the story he was hanging out with members of the Wu-Tang Clan and walked behind the bar and started serving drinks to people. Only no matter what they asked for he just poured them tequila. Then the band got invited to play a house party after the show and Bill Murray showed up again. This time he went into the kitchen and cooked spaghetti for everyone at the party. I always thought the story was a joke but when I googled it a bunch of hits came up.

The Dirty 3. Just a guitar, viloin and drums.

This is Your Captain Speaking. Post-rock from Australia

I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness. Dark and brooding, this song has a U2esque guitar effect running through it.

Swervedriver. Great rock from the 90's
