Do I need new documents for an E-2 TRANSFER???

I'm sure this has been asked before... I only got my E-2 visa this past November, but it looks like I might be switching jobs. It's an amicable break, and my employer said he would be happy to give me a release letter whenever I need one.

I also will likely be going from a private school to a public school, which shouldn't hurt my chances.

Just looking for a semi-definitive answer: will I need to go through that entire awful, time-consuming process of getting a nationwide CRC and apostilled diploma, etc? A few of my recruiters said I wouldn't (I haven't left the country since the last one only a few months ago), but I just want to feel a little more at ease.

Sorry for a less than definitive answer but MAYBE and DEPENDS.

Immigration looks at each case individually and there is no "blanket" policy.

Chances are that:

IF you get a LOR AND have already provided a national check with apostille AND used a degree copy with apostille (rather than an original)

THEN you won't need anything more than the LOR, ARC, passport, new contract, new employer's sponsorship (guarantee form), and a copy of the new employer's business registration.

IF not A then you may need to provide them (for immigration purposes) but immigration will give you time to get them.

Do be aware that if you are NOT a direct hire to the school (going through EPIK/GEPIK, etc) then as a matter of PS Policy you WILL need to get them before they hire you and allow the transfer.

Thanks for the info. Not sure I get the last part, though. I've transferred to public school (after-school) jobs before, using a recruiter, and I was all good as long as I successfully transferred my visa. Or I guess I had to do another medical exam, but that was it.

I am in the same boat. I was informted from my hogwon employer two days ago that they are giving me 30 days notice. No reason was given but my guess is it is because the hogwon is going through financial difficulties due to the low number of students. Nonetheless, I was informed that the school will give me a letter of release.

However, I submitted a notorized copy of my degree and criminal record check, not rcmp, to immigration in December. I still have an extra copy notorized degree and I was informed that my RCMP check arrived in the mail a few days ago, so I can ge that notorized and stamped by the Korean consulate.

I have just started looking for new employment, but do i have to resubmit all the documents again or can i just transfer my visa to a new employer?

I believe you do not. I'm almost at the point of applying for my visa transfer, and my new employer and recruiter have checked into it thoroughly, and they say I don't need to resubmit documents. Just find a new job, get your release letter along with some new documents from the school.

Oh, make sure the release letter has an official stamp from the school... and make sure the final date of your employment is no more than 30 days before the starting date on the contract of your new school (it used to be 14 or 15 days, but I have been told they've changed it to 30 days- might want to check up on that).

I am not sure what you mean by final date. Are you talking about the final date of my current visa or the final date that will be stated on the LOR? From my understanding, when you receive your letter of release you are granted 15 days to find a new employer from that date. Are you saying that the grace period is now changed to 30 days from the date of the LOR?
