Well, I think pirating is pretty popular in most developed countries. In the US, people are made examples of and hit with million dollar payments.

I was wondering if anything like that happened in Korea.

By the way, I love the gulags bit.

It's crazy how brainwashed Koreans are when it comes to this sort of thing. If you ask them whether or not they download movies/music/games etc, they always say they don't do it or they try really hard not to do it because it's a bad thing, it's wrong, it's "not Christian", etc.

That being said, maybe the brainwashing has worked so well that they don't need to bother enforcing it. I know people who do nothing but download stuff illegally online and they haven't got in trouble for it.

Are you sure this isn't a "no way" in the sense of "no way do I drink" "No way do I enjoy service girls" "No way do I cheat on my spouse" etc. etc.

Generally speaking, in a competitive environment, its not a wise thing to admit to illegal activity to an acquaintance of a coworker.

If they asked you if you ever poked smot would you say "Absolutely. In fact, when I go back this month I am going to get sooooo stoned. Man I can't wait to get off that plane"

I bet a good 80% of them have and HD full of pirated junk and illegal porn.

Pirating in Korea? Have you ever been to Yongsan where there is a sea of pirated movies and games being sold to people? If anything were to happen those people would be hit first. Not only are they pirating, they are profitting from it.

Yeah, the Yongsan traders are like the canary down the mine for the rest of the people pirating in Korea.

If you get caught doing it at a public school, the school gets fined 2,000,000 Won.

Most of you will be sent down to the Burakumin village where you will subsist on tanning hides.

However, one of you will be taken into the fold and help the governor of Jeolla do in his struggle against the lords of Gyeonsang do, who have taken control of the Blue House. You will teach them advanced sailing techniques, learn their language, and fall in love with a Christian woman who will eventually let ninjas kill her with a door-bomb.

Then they will burn your ship!!!!!!!

Epic reference.
