Hello all,
I recently purchased a mixer in Japan, and was assured if I was going to use the power converter that I had (which I showed to the sales person in Akihabara), I would be fine. With excitement, I plugged my mixer to my power cord here in my apartment, and less than a minute, large amount of smoke started coming from the adapter of the mixer. I really hope the mixer is fine, and that I can just replace the power adapter.
The mixer is the Yamaha MW10C, and I cannot find a power adapter for it anywhere online. Ive visited Nakwon and Yongsan, and am not sure they would sell me a new adapter or even fix this one. It would be a shame to spend that much money, and have the mixer become useless before one use.
Also, is there a place in Seoul that is like Radio Center in Akihabara? In the 5 months I have been in Korea, I have not been able to find electronic parts for circuitry anywhere. Even at the flea market, I have been asked not to touch anything.
Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you. |

check the watts. i bought a small appliance from home and had the same problem. it was 1500 watts. had to pay $40 for an adaptor that supported up to 2000 watts. |

Where did you purchase the adapter?
I just had a cheap "universal adapter" , and thus the smoke. Im afraid that the adapter for the product itself needs to be replaced. |

i used a big box adaptor that i've always used for my computer at first, thinking that'd be enough, and it smoked. then i used my small universal adaptor and blew every light in my house.
i finally bought an adaptor at a little electronics 전자 shop. it's a 2kva down transformer. i was worried that i had already fried my grill, but it's working now |

Thanks everyone for the help. Hopefully the transformer will revive the adapter. I am headed to Yongsan tomorrow. |
