In a few years...I'm sure chimpanzees will make exceptional ESL teachers. Talk about edutainment...who needs those new ESL robots, train the chimps!

It looks like at times the mother would go over and check for breathing and for a pulse. Confused

That's how people mourn? I've seen elephants more upset than this. Just looks curious to me.

But I dont see why one would consider this special, like it's 'such a human thing', and is a quirky novel idea that other animals do it too, even though there are already thousands of examples of every human emotion and technique in other animals all round

I agree. But still you'll get people saying you're anthropomorphising, like that's a wacky thing to do about humankind's closest relatives.
