I washed my cell phone in my jeans because I am stupid.

I have a 2 year contract or whatever.. (I don't understand how it works honestly... my co set it up and I pay a smallish fine if I cancel after 1 year...)

anyhow

I don't want to involve my co if I don't have to..

If I take my phone to a service center, can they fix it? has anyone had something like this?

do I have to buy a new phone? should I tell them its been washed, or just pretend I don't know, in hopes that it can be "service'uh"?

it looks normal, and doesnt have one of those spots that change color like on the US phones when they get wet.

I got my old phone wet once. It did not have the stains on the screen either but it did work sporadically for a few hours after its dousing. I took it to the A/S shop and fifteen bucks and two hours later it was fine as kind.

as long as electronics don't short out, they often can be fixed from water damage. They can be heated in just the right way to dry them out. Doesn't always works, and sometimes water my damage screens but it's worth a try.

Is it just a regular phone or a smart phone? Regular phone-try putting it in a bag of rice (it absorbs the moisture) for at least 24 hours. I've done this several times back home in the US...

Yes, remove the battery, and open any screw on it you can find. Then place it in a bag of rice for 24 hours. If it doesn't work after that, you are pretty much screwed.

You can try taking it into a service center. Many electronics have a special sensor in them now that normally looks white, but when water gets on it turns purple or red. If your phone was expensive, I'm sure it has this on it.

Try the rice first, then take it to the service center. Worst scenario, you buy a new phone.
