I mostly agree. As long as they're not a danger to themselves or others.

I asked this Korean guy for directions in my neighborhood last year and he spoke English pretty well. He asked if I wanted to grab a beer and I said, "Sure, why not". He started discussing his ex and apparently he was a full time stalker. He showed me a notebook filled with dates and times of her every move. He would even follow her while disguised as a women with a dress and wig on. Psyyyycho. I didnt hang out too long after that.

Did he show you the wig and dress? |

I would like to nominate Thong Man from Haeundae beach (known to Korean people as T-Panty Man).
He is an ageing lothario sun worshipper who brings his 50cc bike and stereo to the beach as soon as the temperature goes over 10 Degrees C. His skin is like stretched leather and most people have never seen him wearing anything other than his thong, bright yellow sneakers and baseball hat.
Some people day he is the son of one of luxury hotel owners on Haeundae beach and he lives a life of leisure as a beach bum. Others say he is a yoga teacher who spends all his time trying to seduce the students. I have no idea what the truth is.
Anyway, he has been on Korean TV and he has his own facebook tribute page here:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=329505249621
He has even established a small group of like-minded sun worshipping followers now. He also does push ups on the stage of the local nightclub apparently. Alas, I have not seen this myself yet.

odd, hes been there forever.ive thought he was maybe Brasillian. Hes used Hawaiian Tropic forever as well. He must have spent time abroad to learn all of the frisbee throwing and cocoa taning, and he must be rich enough to ignore everyone like he does or a nutjob... |

Been to those places. They don't hold a candle to the Castro in San Francisco. Though the crazies there are more the homosexual variety. At any time of the day, you'll find groups of men in full "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" style drag complete with large headdresses making out in the streets with other men in pink tutus or chapless biker leather. |
awesome, that's worth a trip by itself. LOL[/quote]
It is - the Castro is fantastic! |

The other weirdo is the guy who goes around with a cart collecting junk electronics. I see him at least once a week. He yells his message though a megaphone that doesnt work. Maybe not that weird but it makes me chuckle every time I see him. |

In Suwon near Aju university is a guy who cross dresses (wears a really short skirt) and wheres a Pikachu mask. He dances to his MP3 player. It's pretty strange... I know its a guy because of his build and his adams apple...
Like Zanta in Toronto... Or the Cowboy in Times Square... every city has its share. |

There is a Korean High School teacher I retrained back in about 2003. Her nickname was Snow White. She always wore costumes such as Little Bo Peep, Cinderella, Dorothy from the Wiz, Snow White and so on. She must have had a bout a dozen of these different costumes, and she wore different colored wigs with them. Her Little Bo Peep getup even had a long handled shepherd's crook. Also, although she was over 50, she always spoke in a little girl's voice. (Imagine having her for your high school English teacher?)

Did she ever talk about losing her sheep? Or how she was waiting for a prince? Maybe you heard here complain about the Cowardly Lion a few times. |

I used to see an old man in a hanbok regularly. It wasn't a modern hanbok but one of those traditional silk ones in pink, powder blue, and mint green. This was the only clothes he ever wore and they were always filthy. It looked like he would sleep on the street in his expensive handbok. Maybe he was homeless, mentally ill, or an alcoholic but he sure did stand out.
There was a cross dresser/trans-gender at the university. He would wear women's clothing but the outfits were never quite right. I mean... a blouse, mini skirt with pants, and gold shoes. He was also fond of hair clips but they were always worn at the nape of his neck not behind the ears or at the temple. He was the only cross dresser/trans-gender I've ever seen that didn't wear a stitch of makeup. |

In 2005, there was a pretty korean woman, about 35, who hung around Burger King on Itaewan. She would talk (more like scream) to herself in korean. People would just ignore her and stay away.
One time i was there, I was picked up by a girl. We chatted it up and she came to the hotel that I stayed at close to McDonalds...the crazy woman followed us, right to my door. Didn't know what she wanted.
Next day I had the munchies for Burger King and there she was upstairs same place by the window, staring at me, looking demure, all painted up and looking about 8/10.
Ethical question. Would you 'take advantage' of a mentally ill woman? Even when she wanted to have sex with you?
I was sorely tempted, she was good looking and a tight body, but I walked out. Yes she followed, and no I didn't let her in. |
