Bump

Just for the hell of it.

Honestly, as an American citizen, I have no plan whatsoever as to what to do should Bush-ee or Dear Leader decide on a deathcage match. Given my previous responses to traumas I've been through (tornadoes, hurricanes, personal), my response will probably be to open a bag of chips and see what's on tv. I don't panic about things, but I'm also not overly helpful while maintaining my cool. I just kinda sit there and like to watch everyone else.

well sort of unrelated, but...I think the embassy sucks here and I was unhappy with the "service" the Canadian embassy has here. The hours are terrible, and even though the korean girls speak english well there, they are not informative at all. Went there for marriage info and they told me I had to go to the other floor.

Ok fine but it was 10 am and of course they only work from 1-3. WTF? 1-3? what kind of hours are those? I wasnt impressed at all.

My personal experience differs. I had several experiences with the Canadian Embassy a few months ago when we were registering our new daughter and obtaining a passport for her. Lots of red tape and documents, and the Korean (or Korean-Canadian) woman I dealt with was friendly, polite and efficient. I'd read complaints on this board for years and wasn't expecting much, but the standard of service was well above what you'd expect from a government office. No waiting in line, prompt service, and the woman was coming up with all sorts of angles and solutions to help our situation and save us some money, too.

By contrast, and I don't say this to America-bash, our experiences during the same period at the American Embassy were less smooth. The problem wasn't actually the Americans, but the Koreans who work crowd control on the Americans' behalf. Supremely rude. But once inside and you're dealing with the American officer, everything's fine.
