KASE- --- OTHER (I.E) Hanmi
HOURS: 12-5:15---- 1-5 /12-4 ?
HEALTHCARE: YES ---- YES
PENSION/PLANE TICKET: NO/NO---- No/?
HOUSING ALLOWANCE: 500,000 --- 400,000
VACATION: 10 DAYS SUMMER/WINTER---- 10 DAYS?
I work for KASE, and have had a pretty pleasant experience so far. I really like the short hours, and barely ever seeing my boss or recruiting managers. In the 7 months I have been here, I think I have only seen them a total of 5 times. The only thing I dont like is worrying about student numbers, which I have not had a problem with so far. I am sure it would be the same at other after school programs too. I also have a very supportive and friendly Korean co teacher after some real psychopaths at my previous hagwons.
I am curious how other people feel about their after school programs. The reason I ask is because I feel I have it pretty good, but could it be better? I really like the short hours, and not being excessively scrutinized.
Only 4 hours for Hanmi? Really?
I can not pm anybody because I dont have 25 posts yet. Just letting you know.
Anyone know what the best after school program to work for is? |

My friend worked for Hanmi, it was short hours but it is like a part time job, they don't offer any perks. All they do is sponsor your E-2 visa. No house, no airfare etc. And I think when you finish they just give you a million won bonus instead of full severance. Plus your pay is based on the number of students you have in class. Oh yeah, since it is a parttime job if there is a school holiday and you don't work, you don't get paid. Also, they only hire white people.
My other friend works for Win Education. It is an 11 to 5, sometimes 11 to 6 job. But they are losing schools and downsizing, he was just forced to move from a school near Sangsu station to a school near Banghwa station because the Sangsu school decided to go with a different company. But they pay airfare, key money, severance and are pretty legit.
They all have their perks and in my opinion any after school program is 100 times better than a public school/hagwon position. Both of my friends were/are very happy with their positions. |

I was offered a job with Hanmi but the only good thing is the short working hours 12-1 prep and 1-4 teaching.
They provide no other benefits such as housing allowance, paid holiday, FULL severence or health insurance & pension
the 1 million won severence they offer is only if you haven't been absent at all during the year contract.
Also have to pay for your own visa run.
They also do the double bank book thing which is illegal.
I think other after school programs are better such as KASE, Daewhoo(sp???) as they offer much better benefits. |

Plenty of smaller ones that are decent.
More will do pension and at least medical than before.
Do the reasearch becuase some are really scumbags and have a horrible rep.
KASE has the best financial package all around. THe in house recruiters...meg: nice...Phillip: kinda of a dick...didn't like him one bit. I wonder if he practics that a-hole look/accent in the mirror everyday. |
