Hi guys,

How is it done? Has anyone tried to get fingerprinted from a local Korean police station?

FBI prefers card-stock on their fingerprint cards, so unless I want to pay someone to print out professional cards, the best option seems to go to a police station.

Has anyone tried this?

Thx

Hello. Go to your local police station in Korea, regardless of how small the city is. Ask for the CSI unit (really!). They are the fingerprinting experts. I used the download from from the FBI site on normal printer paper. The FBI received my application package on December 13 and had it back to me on January 18 (to my parents house in the States). Today I am sending it to the US Dept. of State for apostille. Make sure you ask the FBI for a stamp and signature on the report in your cover letter. If you have problems with the local police station in Korea, do a search on "Korea police station fingerprints". I have seen lists of phone numbers online. Have the local police station call one of the phone numbers in Seoul and talk to them. After that, they should fingerprint you no problem. Make sure it is the CSI unit! Good luck.

I got mine around the same time and it took about the same time.

I've heard you can get a seal at the US Embassy that will work in place of the Department of State apostille. Has anyone done this? I'd rather have this thing in my hands than wait another month.

It's super easy if you can get to Seoul.

I've done mine, the FBI ran the check, and my dad just mailed it to me.

1. Print off the fingerprint form from the FBI website. http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/background-checks/standard-fingerprint-form-fd-258

2. Take this, your ARC and your passport to the police station.

3. You can get it right next to Anguk Station. Take exit 7, and walk across the street. You'll see a white building with the police logo. Hit the buzzer. Tell them, "CSI." You'll go up to the second floor, and they'll take care of you.

The FBI absolutely will accept this printed on regular paper. You don't need to get card board stock.

Yeah, I did mine on regular printer paper, and Anyang CSI already had copies of the FBI form printed out.

On the information about getting fingerprinted it says something about the officers ID number.
Is this necessary, or do Korean police need to write anything down there?
