Today I received a phone call from "Arrival Store.com" and it lead me to believe that when I move to Korea (working for EPIK) that the apartment will be rather empty.
Does anyone know any more about what to expect out of my living arrangements?
Will there be anything left by a 'predecessor'? Do they even exist in this program?
Or should I go a head and start buying/preparing things for my apartment?
Also: I was told that it is very difficult to get a 'smartphone' while in Korea...I would have it would have been similar to Japan, where they basically hand them out, as long as you sign a 2year contract? Ideas? |

Your apartment should have the basics in it (as per the addendum attached to the end of your contract). It may or may not have additional items - there may or may not have been a 'predecessor' to leave stuff.
You also get a 300k settlement allowance to help with the purchase of stuff you don't have and will need.
As to the smart-phone - there ARE issues with bringing a foreign bought phone into Korea (especially a smart phone) other than to use it as a globally roaming device (with your old carrier).
You may or may not be allowed to get a Korean number/data plan for it.
AS to getting one - it is possible but not easy since you typically need to sign a 2 year contract and you only have a 1 year visa.
