I keep trying to do google searches on this one, but obviously keep getting the "koreans and eating dog" results. Anyways, I'm curious: what are you feeding your dog? That is if you have one...

Back home I normally feed our dog pedigree or purina, and have continued to do this in Korea. I've got to wonder though, if that is any better than the Korean dog food out there? I mean most of the time the pedigree or purina is being brought in from Thailand and I wonder what the quality is coming out of a Thai factory. Is anybody feeding their dog Doby, or any of the other Korean varieties? I'd really like to know what other people are feeding their dog!

I know I could ask this on ARK but I know there are also alot of pet owners on this forum as well. Thanks!

Purina Pro Plan for small breeds. It's hard to find in Seoul unless you go to Chungmuro to the big pet shops, even there it's expensive so I just order a big bag on gmarket. Also they have great deals on dog treats, toys, clothes....everything is much cheaper on gmarket.com.

I boiled chicken breasts, then used the broth to boil rice. I then chopped up the chicken (used a food processor) and mixed it in with the chicken flavored rice. I'd make a big container once a week and keep it in the fridge, then heat some up for his mealtime.

I also gave him one egg a week for his coat. He liked it scrambled.

He also got some of the healthier table scraps but only after we'd eaten.

Dogs also need a multivitamin of sorts. If you can't find one, Nutrical is available at vets and many pet shops. It's calorie dense, so don't overdo it.

This was all back home, but all of the things I suggested are available here.

Purina Pro Plan is rated pretty low on a lot of the dog food review sites. I've been using the ANF Holistic Lamb for a while and noticed a pretty big difference.

I usually buy a 7.5kg bag for somewhere between 25,000 and 30,000 won.

We are not big fans of Purina Pro plan because the dogs were nervous and pooped way too many times in a day.

Each dog acts differently to differnet food. If your dog is nervous, erratic, pooping more than twice in a day, or the poop smells real bad, then you might wanna consider changing the food.

If you want to be picky...and we are with our animals...most all of the food sold at E-Mart or HomePlus is pretty low quality garbage....but the Korean stuff is even worse.

You should order Royal Canin or Science Diet from GMarket, or just buy it from an animal hospital if you can't be bothered with online shopping. GMarket will save you about 5,000 per 4kg bag.

Yes, it's double the price of the crap food....but there is a reason for this. When we switched our animals over we were amazed at the difference. For one thing you get a LOT less feces with good pet food.

But what does double the price mean? $25/month to feed your pet instead of $12.50? You wouldn't buy only the cheapest garbage food for yourself just to save 10 bucks.

I've fed my dog(s) over the years Pro Plan, Royal Canin, Science Diet, and ANF. They've done very well overal without any problems. The biggest thing to look for is corn or wheat in dog food. Dogs usually have trouble digesting corn and wheat and it has little nutrition for them. You'll end up in a situation that was accurately described by my dad as "50 pounds of dog food and 100 pounds of poop". I would also be wary of foods that use hair as a protien source. Hair isn't digestable.

Usually eggs, chicken, and his treat is Liver and kidneys.

I usually cook the chicken and eggs with zuchinni at the same time I cook my food. It's not that expensive, and you don't have to overfeed your dog.

I brown sliced liver in a little butter on both sides, then cut it into small pieces.

For the kidneys, I put them in a colander in the sink and pour a pot of boiling water over them,. I then put the rinsed kidneys back into the pot, cover with cold water, bing to a boil, then cover and turn off the heat. When cool enough to handle, I cut it into bite sized pieces.

These are two of my dog's favorite foods. Pig ears are a rare treat as they are processed.
