I have a nice 6 month old LG monitor I'd like to keep if possible since these still run over $300 back home which is $40 less than what I gave for it here. It won't fit in a standard large #6 postal box, but I have the original box and packing materials. Can it go? |

Bump. Anybody?
Well, after looking at the Korea post site, electronics aren't on the prohibited items list, but it's the the monitor box being longer than their largest shipping box in question. I can only try and if not, one of you will get a bargain. |

Yes. I have sent a monitor home from Korea before (and will have one coming in the other direction in a week). |

What did that cost you? |

It was a 19" monitor in its original box sent through the regular Korean post (by sea) so it was quite cheap (~30,000 KRW). The post office does have some size and weight restrictions though, so it wouldn't work so well for a massive 42" plasma tv. |

That's interesting because I was at the post office yesterday and a Korean lady was trying to send a monitor but was flat out refused service for electronics. I wonder did you guys tell the truth about what was in your package? |

Sure did (it was on the customs form). This was back in August 2008, so perhaps things have changed since then.
Of course, if one person says no, you can always try another person till you find someone who says yes (customer service hacking brute force attack?). |

I think it would also be smart to construct a new plain box over the monitor's box using cardboard from Korea post boxes to make it a generic looking parcel. I'll try to ship it late next week. |

They don't like shipping glass, so perhaps a miss understanding that the screen on the panel contains glass? |

Plasma TV's are glass, but LCD's are lightweight durable plastic. I probably just told you something you and most all of us already know, but someone standing behind a counter probably wouldn't know and find themselves too confused on what to do. My brain started working last night (I thought it was already working, but I was wrong) upon turning off the light. I got up and turned the light back on to see if the 23" monitor (28" long box) will fit in that questionable #6 shipping box. It (the monitor it it's own box) fits perfectly corner to corner diagonally in a shipping box. If using a #5 box, maybe a bit too small for the monitor's box, but not if you pack it without the monitor box. Google searches only came up with results about people shipping them from the home to Asia, but nothing about shipping them from Asia to home. They just pack their monitors and TV's in shipping boxes with their household goods so it shouldn't be an issue. |

Wow, it's nice getting complimented on my improving IQ going from 127 to 165 while fitting myself all alone into a small box for about a year. It is well known from ancient European philosophers and other intellectuals throughout the dark ages of chilly castles that spending time in small boxy places increase cranial expansion! This has to be the most ridiculously funny thing idea I've had in about 10 years. |
