I've seen a few Buy the Ways, but no 7-11 thus far.
I'm at an Elementary school, so I might be teaching your nephew!
Thanks again |

He'll be in 4th grade at Hanam Elem starting in Feb/mar?
Let me know if he gives you any trouble and I'll ring his ears for you (-:
I tried my foreign cards at every corner store and bank in my area (not a small area, BTW) and none of them worked. The banks steared me toward a central branch near Seoul where they had ONE of 7 machines that worked with one my cards (Cirrus-sp?).
Then, by chance, I tried it in a 7-11 two blocks from my apt and it WORKED!!!! weird Korea. |

Hey!
I spent today exploring downtown Hanam. Across from Alpha I found an ATM outside a GS25 that accepts foreign debit (cirrus) cards and credit cards. Good find!
There's also a citi bank near a store called "EMMA". I believe they should take foreign cards as well. This generally isn't a problem for most people except for in their first few days here. Anyway, problem solved! |

If you still got some foreign money left and want to exchange, I got mines done at KB*. All I needed was my passport number.
I'm glad another person decided to join the fray |

You have to go to a bank machine that has a "global ATM" sticker on it. Not all of them have it though. I've seen many of them in Seoul. Most KB banks have at least one of them. There might be a whole line of bank machines and only one will be a global ATM so you have to look carefully.
I definitely saw one just yesterday at Central City Terminal in Seoul. Look for the big line of KB machines near the ticket booths. I saw another one at a KB branch close to the Kyobo Building.
But seriously, you don't have to go there. They're everywhere if you look for them. |

We got one now!!!
It's actually just a converted old mom 'n pop shop, but whatever. They have a display case for pretzels and hot dogs and everything. |

| Hi all. I just accepted a position in Hanam and will be heading over at the end of the month. I was hoping to get some information on different things like shopping. Do they have any of the bigger stores such as a Lotte or Emart? If anyone knows about Hanam and would be willing to answer questions please PM me, thanks. |

| Apparently there are 2 Hamans. One is in Gyeonggi east of Seoul and one is rural in Gyeongnam Province near Masan. Public schools are hiring now in both Hamans so make sure you know which Haman you are going to as they are very different in size and location. |

If you can find a KEB (Korean Exchange Bank) they will have at least 1 ATM that accepts foreign cards, it will be labeled as such. KEB is a blue sign with white letters if I'm not mistaken.
I have a Canadian Royal Bank debit card that works fine from those ATMs. |

Anybody with anything to add about Hanam? I'm looking into the city and would love any information. I've been living in Korea already, but don't know anything about Hanam City.
Thank you. |

Hanam in Gyeonggi Do is a good place if you like the quiet life. It's a 40min bus ride to Jamsil or on the other side Gangbyeon (Technomart). There's a nice mountain to climb and a good long walk by the Hanam river-lots of green space. There is a E-mart in the new area and some black market shops by the mountain selling American stuff. There was a good group of foreigners when I lived there a few years ago. It's not a good place if you like to party as there's no subway-closest is Cheonho(25 min bus ride) on line 5, so it will take you 1.5 hours to Itaewon or Hongdae. |

Aye, definitely stay away from any high schools hiring in Haman-gun in Gyeongsangnam-do. |

Thank you Loza.
Yes, Hanam in Gyeonggi-do.
How are the bus connections to Seoul? Frequent? Good coverage?
Are the black market stores any good? Comparable to anything in Seoul/Itaewon?
It sounds like a good place to ride my bike. |
