I'm a US citizen flying into Czech. in a few weeks and it looks like from their website that the US is an exempt country as far as a Visa goes. I have plans to buy a bus ticket while in Prague for another European country and then to fly out for the US.
I'll have my internet reciept for my future flight out from the 3rd country but will I need anything else for a smooth entry into Czech.? I'll be there about a week.

Thanks for any ideas.

You'll be hard pressed flying into a country that doesn't exist anymore; perhaps you mean the Czech Republic?

Having an outward ticket and proof of funds should be enough for any unpleasant questions.

Ha! If you've never flown into a country that doesn't exist you don't know how much fun it really can be! I suggest you at least keep an open mind about it?

In the meantime, thanks for the advice! Very Happy

No, they are nice people. The opposite way is more rough since the US. treats Eastern Europians like criminals.

Unfortunately, I believe you. Canandians I've known now hate flying through or into the States due to treatment by immigration. Can get poor treatment if you're a Mexican/Mex-American and God forbid if you're from the Mid-East w/ the wrong person at the airport.........

Americans hate in-processing through US immigration too. Britain's agents at Heathrow airport are even more anal about minor details and love to hassle you about any little flaw with your passport's physical condition.

The Czech is in the Schengen area and US citizens are allowed a 6 month visa on arrival. The time limit on your visa starts the first time you land in a Schengen country with the Schengen countries typically not having customs control at the borders where you can just freely pass through just like in the lower 48 of the USA. I am sure 6 months is more than enough unless you were staying with a friend for free enjoying life in Europe or just had so much money you gap year it all the way baby.

Interesting to hear about Britain as I'm flying into and out of Heathrow. I just replaced my passport though it had about 17 months left. A little dog eared but US embassy staff said I could have trouble with some immigration officers in some countries - sounds like Brit. could be one of them!

Czechoslovakia....haha,haven't heard that name in ages! Czech Republic and Slovakia since 93ish dude.

Once entering the Czech Republic, you are in the EU and as a yank, you can go to any EU country during your time in Europe.I believe you can stay for 90 days in the EU zone visa free.

You won't be asked any questions or need to show any ridiculous documents or tickets etc. You just arrive, get stamped and get stamped again on departure form whatever EU country you're leaving from.

You'd only receive trouble or a reprimand if you overstay your 90 days.

7 year former EU zone resident here by the way.
