As it says - I was wondering how to go about ordering stuff online..

Do I have to use Korean characters, or can I use my romanised address?

I dont know any Korean but I can use the Korean characters if I copy them from an email with my address in, only I don't know which line to put where, or if its the same as English address?

Anyway, any advice would be good! I don't want to order stuff only for it to never arrive, lost in the depths of the postal system...

I think you are best to use the hangeul version of your address if you are buying from an online retailer based in Korea. If you wrote the address in English, it will probably get to your destination safely, but a Korean address will ensure a successful delivery.

More importantly however, is which address you use. I recommend having things sent to a location where there is someone to receive it. That is, if you are sending something to your home address, do it if there is a security guard or someone who can hold it while you are at work, for instance. Sending something to an address where there might not be anyone to receive it can result in missing/stolen packages.

Even better, address it to your work's address and leave a phone number of one of your Korean colleagues. Delivery men like to call ahead or call if they have trouble finding the recipient. This will ensure you get your package safely.

Romanized works fine, i've had quite a few packages delivered to me. It'd be best if you used the official romanizaiton system of the government:

odds are higher for a speedier and correct delivery if in Korean though. but not by much.

yeah, its kinda what i thought.. ill use romanisation for this one, then when i get better with my korean i can delve into the world of hangul address..

its just a ps3 game off play asia so it'll fit in my letter box, though it is real small and they always leave everything half-in-half-out

my father sends all packages in romanized lettering. Always gets here.

I registered with a Romanised address to GMarket.

My wife often gets calls from the delivery man wanting to know our address. If you can do it in Hangul, good. If you can't you may need a Korean speaker to answer the inevitable "Where do you live?" call.
