|
|
Ok, I need some clarification on whether or not I to provide my original diploma or copy of diploma for the E2 visa.
I have applied with two different recruiting services, Pegasus and Ask-ETO Recruiting (didn't wanna put all of my eggs in one basket) and they are each giving me contradictory information on the diploma issue.
Pegasus says my ORIGINAL diploma needs to be notarized and apostilled, while my recruiter at Ask-ETO just sent me an email saying immigration no longer accepts original diplomas and that I need to send my PHOTOCOPIED diploma that has been notarized and apostilled......which is just great because I already sent off my original diploma to get notarized and apostilled. Help?
Thanks! |

I unfortunately already sent my original off to get notarized and the apostille. Do you think it will be sufficient to make a copy of my original which now has the seal/notarization, or will I have to order another original diploma, make a copy, and get that copy notarized/apostilled? I hope that's not the case....seems redundant. |

You'll have to get a new one. The apostille has to be attached to the copy. |

If you send the original you WILL lose it. Kimmi will keep it.
Make a copy of the degree. Get it notarized. Get an apostille for it.
Do NOT send your hard copies until you are ready to apply for the visa confirmation number. The recruiter only needs a scan until you are down to the final stages.

not sure if this is related but when i went to immig to extend, change jobs etc a couple of weeks ago i brought my original diploma with an apostille attached and the guy just made a photocopy of it (front and back where the notary was) and the apostille and kept that. he said that was fine and i wouldnt have to get a photocopy apostilled. |

Wait, this last bit confused me. So you're saying the hard copies WILL be needed....eventually? Recruiter= copy, immigration= original diploma?
I may be making this more difficult than needed....
Also, I'm still wondering why two recruiters have told me two opposite things. I know no one can answer the 'why', but I find it disconcerting. |

Great. Now not only do I have to pay $40 for a new, unmarked original diploma, but then I have to pay to have a copy of that one notarized and have the apostille attached. ugh. |

You are making it much harder than it is.
The recruiter only NEEDS the hard copies (copy of the degree + apostille and the CRC with the apostille) WHEN they actually apply for the visa confirmation number (AFTER you have agreed and signed a contract - you usually send the hard copies with your signed copy of your contract).
They do NOT need a hard copy of anything until then. Just send them the scans until you are ready to sign on the dotted line.
If they want the hard copy now (or before you are ready to sign a specific contract) you can bet they are hoping to tie to into them and NOT go to another recruiter (also a good way to bait and switch a newbie).
You only need 1 set of the hard copies (degree copy + apostille) and CRC (FBI only now) + apostille.
If they are asking for your original degree and transcripts rather than the apostilled copy then they are again trying to use it as a hostage or are out of touch with the current regulations.

OP, I think your first post was misleading.
Brief history - the OLD rules were that you could show EITHER your original diploma without a notarization and apostille, OR a notarized, apostilled copy. The NEW rules are that you must have a notarized, apostilled diploma.
It does not matter if you turn in the original diploma or a photocopy of the original diploma. What matters is the apostille.
Thus, from what YOU have written, it sounds to me that BOTH recruiters are right - you need an apostille. Whatever you turn in you need to have the apostille attached, and you will not be getting it back. |
