I stay in shape and use protein powder daily to supplement my meals. I am interested in bringing some over with me. If they are sealed do you think I'd have any issue bringing some in? At 5#/tub, it appears cost prohibitive to ship a few from the US.

Is this kind of stuff available generally? Or is it way too expensive to buy there. I contacted amazon.com and they won't ship it in.

Quite a few Korean suppliers, though from what I hear the quality is suspect.

You can find it at your local Korean GNC...be prepared to shell out 120,000 Korea won for that stuff. Having a US army friend can come in real handy, the same tub that sells for 120,000 at GNC can be had for $30.00 on base.

The customs issue is a bit tricky. I'm not sure why, because the Korean supplies claim their product is the exact same things, so it cant really be a safety/drug issue really...but getting it from a foreign supplier and sending it here seems to be rather hit or miss as far as getting through customs from what I hear on this board.

As far as getting it in personally passing through the airport..the only thing I would say would be to limit yourself to one tub....any more and they may confiscate it (who knows they may even take only one tub...really depends on the mood of the folks at security)

thanks for that input- I am also seeking whey but everywhere I go they only sell chocolate flavor

I prefer vanilla if I'm going to mix it into a shake or something- and the price is way way too high

It's my pleasure. Also, take coralreefer_1's advice and only order one tub at a time. You still might encounter customs problems, but I've been okay as long as I've ordered one. I used a different company that sold their protein in packets, and they removed the packets from the boxes to make shipping cheaper, and I had problems that time. I had to call and complain, saying that "I'm a vegetarian and have allergies and must have my protein or I will get sick blah blah blah..." to get it.

I make cheese and currently there's a couple liters of frozen pure whey in my refridgerator. Many times I have more whey than I can store and often the dog gets a share of it. Let me know if you are interested in purchasing some.

I cant say from my own experience as I have never used any Korean brand. I just made the comment that I had "heard" the quality was suspect because some others on this forum who have discussed this over the years have mentioned that perhaps the quality of the whey/egg protein was low, or the mixture was rather cut quite a bit with fillers...etc.

Again I am not saying the quality is suspect, only that I have heard it mentioned here. There are a few here who are WAY more into lifting than myself who may be able to shed more light on the issue.

Not worth it to bring it over imho. Just go to Namdaemun in Seoul and pick up a 10 lb. bag of ON. Only chocolate was available the last time I was there. The price is about the same as in the states. It takes up too much space and you're better off bringing more of your favorite deodorant, toothpaste, or jars of herbs. I should have bought a 1 or 2 TB external drive, it's about double the price here.

well, stuff purchased here is ridiculous (like upwards of 80 bucks for a tub) and some say its been cut- sounds like we are talking about something else!

Anywhoo, I'm gonna purchase some off iHerb.com next month and start exercising.
