|
|
Well, instead of sitting around playing on facebook all day, I get to spend my last two weeks preparing "materials" for the teacher who will come and replace me. Writing sample dialogs, sample essays and reading for my co-teacher's after school class (which I don't participate in,nor receive any money).
If you're mad because you just have to sit there, I'll trade you. |

What about all your accumulated lesson plans from the past year? Isn't that good enough? Essays? Just pull them down from the net.
I've given my coteacher so many freebies, it would be such an odd request to expect me to prepare for the next teacher. However, I understand that some coteachers feel compelled to keep the NESTs busy. And yes, I do hate deskwarming, but ALL the teachers at my school have to do it too, so it's nothing special for me. Silly and counterproductive rule reminding us that we are really not professionals. |

when I am moving on from my current school - they will get what I used during my time here in a folder/USB and a note on how things in the school work that I had to figure out for myself being the first fireigner ever but I am NOT making lessons for them, thats what they will be getting their salary for! Maybe harsh but why should i? |

Nothing beats desk warming. I get paid for coming to "work", take out my Kindle, read for a few hours, lurk on forums, watch youtube and study. Every now and then they'll ask me to make some kind of lesson or idea for a class, but nothing that's going to take longer then 30~60 minutes to finish.
I'm going to enjoy my desk warming for the next six months. I'll never have this much free time in the states. |

I agree fully. Everything I have created so far will be conviently saved onto my computer and a USB that I will leave for the next teacher eventually. I am not going to plan out weeks of lessons for classes I won't teach. Who is to say that the next teacher even teaches the same way that I do. In teaching, there are so many effective ways to do it. There really is no "right way". How are you even going to plan lessons for students you don't even know? My style of interacting with the kids and presenting material works for me and my students, but it won't work with everyone. Let the next guy be himself. He can use my old lesson plans, but I hope he modifies them to fit his style...and more importantly his students! |

Edit about a month's worth of your old lessons to make them fresh and leave that for the new teacher. It should take you a few hours at most.
Watch tv, play online, and read for the rest of deskwarming. |

I wish I could, but my co-teacher will be sitting right next to me. I as I was writing about American football, I was watching Barry Sanders highlights, to add to the little essay. He gave me a dirty look and told me I was wasting time.
The next week and a half cannot pass soon enough. |

yeah, tell him to go screw himself.
teachers at my school when at their desks, every single female teacher's computer is looking at stupid shoes, clothes, etc.
the males may just sleep or watch Korean dramas, or whatever it is they do.
i play computer games. Nobody says a thing. |

yeah seriously.... if a co teacher was telling me i was wasting time, i would probably just laugh it off and continue what i was doing. and if they ever got serious about it, i would say that my work is already finished.
but yeah, like vagabundo, my co teachers are either looking at online clothing shops or celebrity gossip sites.
some teachers even just straight up sleep at their desk with their donut pillows. or some even go to the nurses office, like i do, to take a nap.
at my old school there was a nap room where teachers would just pass out in. |

Yeah, the "problem" with this guy is that he's actually an awesome teacher and he works his butt off. He is always working on new teaching materials. I'm not joking. So I have a lot of respect for him, I just wish that right now I had one of those co-teachers like you all are talking about. I'd be watching the Adventures of Pete and Pete today, not whatever crap he comes up with for me. |

Ask your co-teacher if he pays your salary and then go back to watching football. |
