I'm leaving for K-Land in a few weeks. Would it be wise to get a 1 month travelers insurance from Canada to cover any possible accidents that could happen before my Korean health insurance kicks in?? I'm a healthy, fit, young male.

IF you are going to a public school it wouldn't be a bad idea but is probably not necessary.
If you are going to a hagwan, do be aware that the large majority of them still use the "we pay 1/2 you pay 1/2) of your medical expenses and do NOT enroll you in the NHIC plan.
Also be aware that most travelers insurance programs/plans will NOT cover you if you are "resident" in your new country (beyond 90 days from entry).

You can get travel insurance at Incheon airport (assuming you are flying out of Korea from there). Meritz and Samsung both have booths on the departure floor. The premium depends on where you are traveling to and how long you are going for. It's pretty cheap in most cases anyway.
Note though that in order to get travel insurance from these companies, you have to be returning to Korea after the trip. |

| I got a years worth of insurance for about a hundred quid. I mainly just got it on the off chance that I get so sick/injured that I need to be repatriated to the UK (this costs an absolute fortune without cover), but you never know how else it might help (stolen wallets, flights going wrong etc). Small investment for piece of mind. |

| Hmm, 'tis a one way trip but via another country. Are the companies here that sell insurance for such things? |
