Do you live in Toronto?

You could go to the consulate in person or give them a call and explain your situation to them. I needed my documents notarized on the spot, the embassy told me I would have to come back the following day to pick them up. After explaining the urgency they were able to have it done in a few hours.

Good luck.

Man thinking about Toronto give me chills, it's so cold there.

Really? Was this at the Toronto office, and recently? I live just outside of Toronto so I can easily go back - multiple times if I have to. It's just, the girl that I spoke to didn't seem like she would bend at all for my situation, so that's what's making me quite nervous that I'm not going to have my visa in time for my flight... Confused

Thanks, I will take your advice and see what happens.

Relax.........you'll have it before your flight. If you submitted your docs on Monday, they'll probably call you on Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest to give you your appointment time. Your appointment will be for your interview and visa pickup. After I submitted my docs (I mailed them to TO) they called me the day they received them. The gave me my interview that week. The visa was issued the same day as the interview.
The interviews are all usually scheduled for around 2:00 or 3:00 in the afternoon, and you can come back to pick up your visa at 4:30 that day.

When they call you to schedule the interview, if it's too late, then you can try to get it moved up. I wouldn't try anything before hand.......it won't get you anywhere.

I dealt with the TO consulate all last summer if you have any further questions about the interview.

Also, this may be stating the obvious but you will be asked to basically fill out all your information again when you come for the interview.......tedious I know.
So have the address, phone numbers, contact info etc. for you school with you. Your University address and info........and of course another copy of your transcript (they need to open another one that day).

Best of Luck

ps

do you think you could bring me a bag of ketchup chips & some packages of swiss chalet sauce Wink

Usually, they say 5 to 10 days, but it usually only takes about 5 days. They just say 10 to cover themselves. So don't worry too much.

Back in the day Toronto only took 3 days. Fukuoka does it in 24 hrs.

I swear to all that is holy no job is more cushier than an embassy jobs. They barely work or exert any effort what-so-ever. Soon they won't even have to show up. Cheques will be just be mailed to their homes and the embassy will remain closed all year.

Haha for sure, I have had nothing but problems with the Toronto Consulate, always giving me different answers depending on who answers the phone that day, making me fill out information multiple times. Getting documents and pictures for them that they already should have. I swear they keep no records or track anything. But, they sure like taking your application money.

Out of curiosity, What circumstances made you apply for an E2 visa 6 days before you fly out? Is this common? Was this your Schools fault?
How does this situation happen anyways? I'm sincerely curious.

I'm not saying its your fault or anything but The consulate does clearly say the visa takes 5-10 days ( maybe longer without notice) and they do say not to buy your plane ticket until the visa is approved. So why would a school give you less than a week to prepare/ get the visa?

Might be interesting to hear the full situation you're in in more detail. Might be helpful for others.....

Also, ON a separate note, I too was at the consulate Monday morning and i think I was standing behind you.

good luck.

Oh i see you were out of the country. Makes sense. I was just curious if it was typical to apply for E2s at the last minute and if it was because of the employers in Korea. I wouldn't know , I've never applied for an E2. If this does happen because of employers thats pretty crazy. I wasn't aware it was that bad.

A) I don't intentionally listen to peoples conversations at a consulate. I was speaking to my wife and out of no where the Korean girl was loud and making a fuss over something. Its kinda hard not overhear a Korean girl using a scolding tone of voice in a quiet and relatively empty room . I turned around because I thought My wife and I were the only ones there and Thought she was talking to me because we just finished applying for a visa with her. I only over heard a few key words and when i realized she wasn't talking to me I turned around and kept talking to my wife. Once i found out it wasn't directed to me I honestly didn't care what was going on.

B) Point Taken, my bad. Didn't think it was a big deal. Just think its a small world and crazy how you randomly bump into people from forums you read......
