Today, South Korea is no longer a smokers' haven. The social environment of smoking has changed so much over the years, and smokers like Choi too often find themselves unwelcome almost everywhere in the country.

Such changes have come rather slowly as if those enforcing them were careful enough not to alert those who might oppose them, namely, smokers.

It's about time. Although I still see tons of guys puffing away as they are walking . It's a start, but smoking need to be completely eradicated.

Smoking could become more expensive, too. Health Minister Chin Soo-hee recently suggested that cigarette prices must be doubled to 5,000 won ($4.60) a pack as part of efforts to discourage smoking. She later backed down under angry reactions from smokers but insisted that she will find an appropriate price after consulting with the U.N. World Health Organization.

Screw 'em. Increase those taxes and get the prices up, too damn cheap here.

How about put some nasty pictures on the packets like some other countries do?

I hate the drunks too, I think we should get rid of the drinkers. Ban the booze., close the bars, people should go to church instead Also I hate pot heads, they should all be eradicated, then onto the fat people. God the sight of the fatties, eww, the should also be eradicated, lets get rid of McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts.

Wow feel the hate people. Develop some tolerance. Somebody is going to do something that is going to be annoying. It is a bit good that some places are becoming smoke free but smokers till need a place too. It should be up to the bar, restaurant, or PC Bang.

I'm a non smoker. A non smoking girl definitely has an edge with me over a smoker. I hate the smell of smoke in my clothes when I come home from a club or bar.

I like that smoking is seen as such a bad thing to do from the kids I teach (knowing most, especially the boys will end up smokers anyway).

However, I'm a bit of a libertarian and think that smoking is a choice. It may be a bad choice health wise but so is eating greasy foods, fast foods, alcohol, etc. and no one (at least so far but they're trying) to ban people from that. I know smoking is different because it affects others via 2nd hand smoke. So I do agree on banning smoking in playgrounds, within a certian distance from public schools and such.

Overall, you have the right to do what you want with your body. Even if its not a smart thing to do. Its your body. If you want to smoke, drink alcohol, abort your baby, have assisted suicide, get a tattoo...and yes, illicit drugs, it should all be the same. Its a dangerous slippery slope when 'big brother' has the right to tell you what you can or can not do with your own body. They NEVER stop at what you may deem is okay, they ALWAYS seek more and more control by telling you its for your own good.

I'd say my smoking is less damaging than driving.
