|
|
For a slough of reasons, my friend and I are covertly seeking new employment while still working for our current employer. Being as we don't want to raise suspicion, we aren't keen on using the office scanner to do things like scan passports, and neither do we know how to ask any co-workers how to find such facilities without risking the wrong (or, well, right) idea getting out along the grapevine.
So, Dave's, where do we find a scanner? Can we find one at a PC-bang? Maybe a post office? What's the equivalent of Kinko's in Korea? Much appreciated. |

Kinko's in Korea is called, surprisingly enough, Kinkos.
There is out just outside of the cityhall subway stop (exit 1). Top of the stairs, turn right and it is in your face.
Most PC bangs have a scanner as well as any copy shop.

We're actually located in Gwangju, but thank you much for the directions! The sentiment is appreciated. |

Find a public middle or high school somewhere away from your hagweon. Near that school will be a copy shop. They should have scanner and fax service also. |

Said friend here, trying not to clog up the pipes with a new thread if I can help it.
Same reason, different problem - where can we get passport photos taken? |

There's no Kinko's in Gwangju, but you might get it done at other professional printing shops.
Quick vocabulary check: scanning is '스캔', photocopying in plain B/W is '복사' while color photocopying in particular is '칼라복사.' Shops will list their trades up front, read the signs to find the right type of shop you're looking for.
There are sufficient number of shops in Gwangju for what you need to get done, such as:
'무아사' near Culture Complex metro station http://map.naver.com/index.nhn?dlevel=11&lat=35.1444541&lng=126.9195991&query=6rSR7KO8IOy5vOudvOuzteyCrA%3D%3D&menu=location&stab=SITE_1%3B1&siteOrder=128841219&queryRank=1&mapMode=0&flight=off&street=on&stilt=0.58&streetid=3ohj1FtRbmNFjKurm7NKyA%3D%3D&sfov=120&span=80.94&streetlng=126.9195996&spoi=off&streetlat=35.1444543&ssky=on&enc=b64
or '무등칼라복사' in the same neighborhood http://map.naver.com/index.nhn?dlevel=11&lat=35.1498315&lng=126.9225241&query=6rSR7KO8IOy5vOudvOuzteyCrA%3D%3D&menu=location&stab=SITE_1%3B1&siteOrder=128841219&queryRank=1&mapMode=0&flight=off&street=on&stilt=-2.85&streetid=wy5lf76Wev8eG3Ce60XtWQ%3D%3D&sfov=80&span=-52.06&streetlng=126.9225242&spoi=off&streetlat=35.1498311&ssky=on&enc=b64
or some of the shops such as '그린복사' http://map.naver.com/index.nhn?dlevel=11&lat=35.1713531&lng=126.9044129&query=6rSR7KO8IOy5vOudvOuzteyCrA%3D%3D&menu=location&stab=SITE_1%3B1&siteOrder=128841219&queryRank=1&mapMode=0&flight=off&street=on&stilt=-0.35&streetid=phocTQ%2FmXAyRpcSZV%2F0hFg%3D%3D&sfov=60&span=93.27&streetlng=126.9044131&spoi=off&streetlat=35.171353&ssky=on&enc=b64 among those clustered across from the main gate of Jeonnam Uni.
There are plenty others scattered all over the city. |

You can get passport type photos done at most Homeplus, Emart, Lotte Mart, etc. department stores. There's usually a photo shop near the entrance or around the food court area. Most will not only take your passport photo, but also photoshop it to make it look nice for job applications and such - often at no extra fee (sometime without even being asked). |

most subway stations in Seoul (at least the busier ones Myeongdong, Hyehwa) have the photo booths that you can take your own passport photos with. |
