|
|
What follows is a list of states with their FBI apostille status.
CAUTION:This list was user submitted and is possibly not 100% accurate as states do change policies. Calling your state's secretary of state's office to verify will likely get you different answers depending on who answers the phone.[/b]
NOTES: Some states will require a self-sworn affidavit to be notarized and attached with your apostille.
So far we have:
Alabama -----------> Yes
Arizona ------------->No
Arkansas ----------->Yes
California ----------> Yes
Colorado -----------> Yes
Florida -------------> Yes
Illinois ------------> No
Indiana ------------>No
Iowa --------------> Yes
Kansas -------------> Yes [ I personally did it in Kansas, but we now have conflicting reports ]
Kentucky ---------->No
Louisiana ---------->No
Massachusetts -----> Yes
Michigan -----------> Yes
Minnesota ----------> Yes
Missouri ----------->No
New York ---------->Yes [ Manhattan Office ]
Ohio ----------------> Yes
Oklahoma ----------> Yes
Tennessee ---------> Yes
Texas --------------> No

I am in the same boat. Sent mine in on the 1st and also did not get e-mails returned. Hopefully it comes back before the CBC expires. This is typical of government agencies when they run out of money, the first thing they do is cut off customer service and remove their phone number or keep the phones on hold. Please post again when you receive it so I will know what to expect. |

Sure, the US dept of state received my background check on the 27th of January. They have ignored all my emails and faxes.
I just wrote a letter to the president on White House website direct mail, and asked for a refund of my 18 dollars from the FBI and 8 dollars from the Dept. of State because I will likely not get a good contract due to the extreme delay. |

Haven't done it yet, but the Wisconsin SOS says they'll do it. I've talked to others who have had it done also. I should be getting my CBC from the FBI this week, so I'll confirm later. |

The office of the FBI that issues CRC's is located in West Virginia. Unless they have changed their policy, the West Virginia Sec. of State's office will apostille the FBI CRC and they have a fast turn around time. |

Does anyone know if Oklahoma is one of the states that will issue Apostilles to federal documents?

I can drive to Topeka in 1 1/2 hours. Do they do same day service in person? If so, can you elaborate on the affidavit ? |

Indiana only apostilles documents from in-state (so no FBI checks).
I'm also being delayed by this and only this out of my whole process. It's terribly frustrating, given that when you buy a gun in the US, they do a criminal check with the FBI that takes about 30 seconds. http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/nics/general-information/fact-sheet
Questionable safety system that allows you to get a gun in under a minute, but delays you getting a teaching job by 6 to 14 weeks. |

Riker- Give them a call and check. I found their website very uninfomative. http://www.kdheks.gov/vital/apostilles_authentications.html
Office of Vital statistics (785)296-1400
Nothing on their website mentioned a same day walk up service. I didn't ask if they had one since I planned on mailing in docs. I spoke with the lady who works with the apostilles. She said I needed to write an affidavit stating that the document was authentic. She couldn't tell me how to write one (they can't give legal advice) but quickly read one for me. In the end I wasn't comfortable writing it & afraid of having it rejected in Korea. I ended up sending mine to VA since mine was signed and stamped. The one she read went something like...
"I have personalknowledge of the fact that the following document is
is true, correct and complete copy of the original it purports to be...." Then you get it notarized. I bet you might be able to find samples online to model yours after.
Let me know what you find out I'm getting nervous since I still haven't received my apostille. |
