If you're from the UK, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand you've probably never heard of this band. Or if you have, you'd probably never heard of them until you came to Korea and met some Yanks.

I was the same way. But, way back in 1999 I studied abroad in the US, and occasionally a song came on which everyone knew except me. It was invariably a Dave Mathews Band song. I didn't know it because they (he?) are only famous in N. America. Nowhere else. Only there. And they are MASSIVELY famous and popular there. It's quite weird. Most big American bands make it worldwide. But not these guys. They made their millions in the US and that was good enough for them.

Anyway, it's been a few years now, and I've realized I can't name a single song by this band. I'm not sure whether this is because they're entirely forgettable, or I'm entirely too forgetful. But nonetheless, I can't remember any of their songs.

So, Yanks and Canucks. Tell us Non-N.Americans what the best DM song is and provide a link. Hey.. they might even get famous..

They are so nineties. Chillin' Californication fusion of sax and violin, an outdoor concert band if there ever was one. I have a DVD concert of theirs I picked up in Busan a few years ago for nostalgia's sake. I pop it in twice a year or so, usually in the summer.

I went to school near UVA, my mom grad'd from there, they and hootie and the blowfish were always playing around, but i never went to see them, cause i was into the cure. true story, they played everywhere..

They come to Europe quite often

The Dave Matthews Band 2010 European tour will feature 18 concerts in 10 countries next February and March.

The DMB European tour, announced yesterday, begins Feb. 13 in Stockholm and ends March 12 in Birmingham, England. Here's the full European tour schedule:

* Feb. 16: Hamburg, Germany
* Feb. 17: Berlin, Germany
* Feb. 19: Vienna, Austria
* Feb. 20: Munich, Germany

* Feb. 23: Rome, Italy
* Feb. 25: Padova, Italy
* Feb. 28: Cologne, Germany
* March 1: Antwerp, Belgium
* March 3: Amsterdam, Netherlands
* March 4: Frankfurt, Germany
* March 6: London, England
* March 7: Manchester, England
* March 9: Dublin, Ireland
* March 11: Glasgow, Scotland

The Dave Matthews Band 2010 European tour will bring DMB to several cities for the first time, including Vienna, Rome, Padova, Antwerp, Glasgow and Birmingham.

Curiously, the European tour dates do not include a stop in Portugal, which has a rabid fan base and hosted the energetic May 25, 2007 concert that DMB released as Live Trax Vol. 10.

Dave Mathews is big with the college drinking/hippie crowd. As an American, I would just go to his concerts for the all day drinking and partying. His concerts are huge. Buses, Limos, and cars all parked in a huge grassy parking lot with beer pong tables and bean bag tossing as far as the eye can see. I didn't much care for the music then, but lately I've been listening to their 'Live at Luther College' stuff and it's quite good...

Another band that had the "rawr" (as in the noise a cat makes, only bassier) sound in its vocals that absolutely drives me up the wall.

Never really got into DMB, but he did an acoustic show/CD with Tim Reynolds that was pretty awesome. TR has some serious licks.

I wouldn't consider them a huge band outside the university aged hippy pot smoking crowd. They do have a loyal following, sort of like an upper middle class Grateful Dead. Around 10-15 years ago they had a couple of huge singles gave them some crossover success with people my parents age but they have sort of slipped out of the mainstream. When I was in college that song "Crash" was HUGE. I was a little shocked when I came across this thread. I thought Loveless dug up an old thread again.
