I just have a general question for the tea lovers out there. What tea do you drink and where do you get it?

My morning cup: PG Tips sent from the UK via loved ones.

The rest of the day: green or barley tea from Korea or rooibos chai that I either have sent from the US or via iherb.com.

You can buy the teabags just about anywhere in Korea but if you want the full health benefits from tea, tea leaves are the way to go. Stay away from the department stores because they'll try to rob you blind with their overpriced teas.

Green tea in Korea is pretty good and you can buy cheap at the supermarket.

현미녹차 is the best tea ever.

Punjana or Nambari from home.

Failing that Twinnings English Breakfast Tea from Homeplus or Jasmine tea from the foreign food market.

Rooibos... I got a mega-pack from Costco.

Cinnamon bark steeped in water for several minutes is a tasty sweet drink, too.

Lavendar tea from E-mart is good, too.

YaYa is correct. You can find many great teas at supermarkets like E-Mart. Don't overpay at tea shops. I like the ginseng jujube tea but there are others that are also very good.

Tesco (Homeplus) sells a lot of their UK tea products here. I buy the cheap black tea (not a connoisseur), and it does the trick.

I highly recommend trying some of the Korean herbal teas. It seems like the people of this country tried to turn every single plant into a tea at one time or another, and some of them actually work. I have vowed to try them all before I leave this country. My personal favorite at the moment is dunggulle cha (Solomon's Seal tea).

Jasmine and peppermint blended together is the most counterintuitive thing I've ever heard. Maybe I'll try it. Smile

Give it a shot. I serve it every day to my counseling clients. A little honey added can also be nice!

I usually drink PG Tips or Tetley's. I ran out three quarters of the way through my first year so I made do with that crappy Akbar nonsense (Kim's Club) and Tesco Finest Earl Grey (Homeplus). I stocked up when I was home last month and brought back 300 PG Tips and 200 Tetley's. That should last for a while.

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has a specialty tea store in the Seoul Finance Center building (2 blocks north of city hall) where you can buy loose leaf teas by weight (I think the minimum is 50g). They've got a pretty good selection (a lot more varieties than what they offer on their mall.coffeebeankorea.com). It's still expensive, but I think it's cheaper than the department stores. I'm no tea connoisseur, but I figure it's better than the supermaket varieties.
