It's alright. Its about 30 minutes outside Seoul. About 20 minutes via subway from the district cut off line. Dobongsan. I think 30,000 for taxi.

It's relatively big and they're building a subway for it now. Should be open by the end of next year.

I've been there once. Not too bad. But I wouldn't want to live there.

Asking about a location, school, or about teaching are valid questions. Asking about a town isn't a stupid question. What is a stupid question is asking about alcohol. Asking "Are there any bars?" and "Will I be able to find beer?" about ANY town in Korea are truly stupid questions and you'll understand once you get here why I make that statement.

Havn't been there in a couple of years, but it's mainly a bedroom community for Seoul. There's a fair amount of foreigners there. Last time I was there, it was growing like crazy.

Subway line number 1 runs all the way through Uijeongbu and beyond.

They are also finishing a smaller Uijeongbu Line that does a circle around the city. By the looks of it, it should be finished within a year or so but I don't know exactly.

Uijeongbu stops coming form Dobongson at the end of Seoul are Mangwolsa (Shinheung College) Station, Uijeongbu (Station (the center of town, shopping, immigration, THC Cinema 9), Gangeung (used to be called Uijeongbu Bukbu back when I first moved here about 6 years ago, a lot of public schools and apartments nearby) and Nokyang (one of the new areas of Uijeongbu, near the American army's Camp Red Cloud, the big stadium and ice rink, and the international school).

Line 1 used to end at Ganeung and then you could take an hourly train or a bus further north. But now the Line 1 expansion, which was finished about 3 years ago, goes on from Nogyang to Yangju (big bus hub for people who live in the new Yangju new town, Yangju City Hall, Yangju post office, hiking in back of Yangju city hall), Doekgye (near Lotte Mart) and Deokjeong (near EMart) in Yangju, then on to Jihaeng (Dongducheon's new town), Dongducheon Jungang (the old part of Dongducheon, there's a big outdoor market there), Bosan (U.S. Army's biggest base Camp Casey, lots of juicy girl bars and pawn shops outside of the base, one good restaurant called Marty's), Dongducheon (has a big bus hub outside, surrounded by factories) in Dondgducheon and finally the line stops at Soyosan Station, a big hiker's destination.

From Dongducheon Station, there is an hourly train that goes to some small towns/tour spots like Choseong-ri (very small), Hantangang (river tour place), Jeongok (big small town) and Yeoncheon (small) and finishes at Sin-Tan-Ri. The entire train rides is about 40 minutes and has about 8 stops. It's only 1,000 won, so if you ever wanted to be close to the border on the cheap, it's a good way to go.

your thread's been hijacked. look, these places they're talking about are far north of uijeongbu, the length of time between train stops start getting longer north of there.

uijeongbu is a fairly large city, so don't assume you'll be near a subway station on line 1. jangam, at the end of line 7 is also in uijeongbu, as is ganeung, which somebody mentioned earlier.

also, while it's a satellite city of seoul, it isn't one of the newer, nicer ones that were developed expressly to draw away overcrowding. It IS very close to some parts of seoul, like say nowon-gu but as a general rule it will take you between 1-2 hours to get to any other given part of the city via public transit.
