Does anyone know where I can get mucinex or something equivalent in Seoul. I've checked pharmacies they don't really know.
It helps loosen the mucus in your throat / lungs so your coughs are much more productive. Beats the hell out of the dry hacking cough that burns your chest |

Best most effective expectorant is plenty of plain old water. |

Last year I went to about 10 pharmacies, never found expectorant.
Had to go to the local clinic to get a prescription, then the clinic pharmacy gave some to me.
Admittedly, it is crazy to need a prescription for expectorants, but the clinic visit is only about 5-10 kWon or less. I have a nice doctor there, so I don't mind going. |

According to their website, there is guaifenacin in Haben Power. However, I have never been able to find Haben Power nor have any pharmacists I've asked ever seen it. |

You need a prescription for that?!?!?! Good thing I need to get a prescription for ear wax remover anyway. Korea's crazy about the weirdest things |

You can get guaifenesin at any pharmacy anywhere. It might be combined with other ingredients though. The way to pronounce it in Korean is 구아이페네신. I got some at a pharmacy at the bus terminal last time I had a chest cough.
Unfortunately you can't get cold medicine at grocery and convenience stores in Korea yet because of laws which favour pharmacist's pocketbooks, but the current administration is working to change that. Of course, pharmacists are coming out against this law in the name of "safety." They must think we are dying in droves in Canada, the US, and other countries where we can pick up cold medicine without a prescription at a store. |
