I know Avalon is a big chain and that each branch is different ... I've heard the good and the bad of various other locations but nothing on Cheongju. Thoughts?
I've taught in Korea before, PSA Bundang and loved it and am coming back to Korea with my sister ... I'd hate to have talked up the experience to end up in a shady place.
Thanks for your advice! |

I just signed on at an Avalon in Cheongju (I'm supposing there's only one?)... Should be there in about two weeks.
No one has posted any reply to my question about the same school - so, hopefully it's good news that no one here has jumped on with bad reviews. You know how much they like their bad reviews here on Dave's! |

I just received an offer from Avalon in Cheongju and I was wondering, now that you've been there a few months, how do you like it? Pros and cons? Any help would be great |

Chronica -
A colleague of mine was happy with her experience there, except that she ended up teaching kindy when they had told her she wouldn't. She's really tolerant and easygoing, though. If you're the go-with-the-flow and smile-and-nod type, you should be fine |

I work pretty much next to Avalon. Quite a big school and quite busy. The people I know who worked there seemed to enjoy it and didn't have any real problems. But from what I understand you are expected to work fairly hard with not much break time between lessons (same as most hagwons really)
As for CHeongJu, fairly decent city. Not too big, hour and a half to Seoul. All amenities you could need, close expat community who go drinking together and generally most people know each other on a first name basis.
People from all over. It's ok, not as exciting as other places but it does the job. |

hi everyone! i have an interview with avalon in cheongju tomorrow. seems like avalon overall is not looked upon favorably, but one's experience will typically depend on the specific location/school. i have found some general positive to neutral statements about this location and nothing too bad other than appearance and smoking habits taking precedent in the interview... i am wondering if anyone would be willing to share any more information on their time spent at this school? thanks!! |
