I got a deal with Delta.
http://www.delta.com/
But if you look at the Korean Air site:
http://www.koreanair.com/
under "e-super saver" on the left side half-way down the page you can get some okay prices with better service. |

I've checked sites like expedia at various times and barring any kind of crazy seat sale, Air Canada is generally the cheapest, especially if you don't live in Vancouver or Toronto. If you have to fly out to another place, you're going to end up changing to air canada (likely) anyway you often get a better price on on getting the whole thing from one company. |

heading home to PEI one year my school changed me to fly through the states with United and then onto Delta. (United ICN to San Fran and then San Fran to Boston, Delta Boston to Charlotteown) you could do that I suppose if you have any American airlines that fly into your particular airport. That might be an option. |

Depends where you are headed and when.
Where: Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal
Go through the US, the prices are cheaper.
Your best options there are: Delta, AA (they are now doing more codesharing with JAL through ORD).
Where 2: Smaller city
Air Canada can have better deals but check the US routes too.
When: now is cheap and will be until May. After May price start to climb and peak in June-July-August. |

You keep saying this, but it just isn't true.
Delta is currently $300 more than Air Canada for a one stop flight to toronto and you still have to deal with flying through the US.
The cheapest right now are hainan and china eastern ($100 cheaper than AC). AA doesn't even seem to be running a flight at least not according to expedia.
Montreal, Delta doesn't offer a 1 stop, 2 stop only.
Air Canada is the only 1 stop.
Vancouver, Delta doesn't seem to run it. direct Air Canada is the cheapest but China has a 1 stop through beijing for $300 less than Air Canada.
Not saying it's not worth checking for seat sales, but every time this comes up and I check it, I am not seeing these big savings that apparently happen by going through an american airline. |

Well if you fly from Seoul sure.
If you fly from Busan and have to transit through Seoul, whats one more stop really?
Even out of ICN, whats one stop if it saves you money?
Just for the heck of it, I found a Delta flight to either Toronto or Montreal, out of ICN, stop in Detroit: two way comes to just under 1000 CAD leaving in March.
AA offered something similar but through ORD. Very little waiting at ORD and then a short flight to YUL or Pearson.
AC was a bit more expensive for the ICN - Pearson or through Vancouver (which of course is another stop!).
Some friends of ours are coming to visit us near Ottawa this spring, they booked a JAL flight: ICN - Narita - ORD - YUL (we pick them up at YUL), two way it came to 855 000 W.
Just shop around is the point I am making and do not ignore flights that go through the US because on sheer volume you may get a better deal.
If AC is cheaper then go ahead and book it. Its about the $$$ afterall.
From our point of view , flying to Busan, we prefer to avoid ICN and transit via Narita. On that route, from North Am, AC is not even competitive.
Basic rule anyway: shop and sometimes one extra plane change can be well worth it. Also get yourself a good travel agent and stick to them if you travel often. We do and it pays off.
Good luck! |
