How much do mens clothes cost at popular retail stores? I am interested in costs both inside and outside of Seoul. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Have you been to Korea before? If not, here are a few stores that you will find.

1. H & M............You will only find this store in Myeongdong, Seoul.

2. Uniqlo.......All over the place

3. Giordano....All over the place

Maybe this will help you. I apologize if you've been to Korea and already know of all these stores! If you're new to Korea sticking to the korean retail stores is a lot cheaper than going to a GAP or other American clothes retailer. Those places charge WAY too much!

If you are larger than the average bear then you might have trouble finding clothes that fit.

Just a word to the wise.

Clothes here are cheap. You may look like a shiny vision in polyester at the bargain basement prices, though.

It really depends, just like in the U.S. (if that's where you're from). Some places are fairly pricey simply for a brand name, whereas a place like uniqlo is fairly cheap (bought jeans there for like 30,000 when I was a student a couple years ago).

The thing about sizing is definitely true, though. I wear a medium (comfortably) in the U.S. and the few T-shirts I bought were L or XL. I'm 6'2" and 170 lbs., just for reference.

Clothes here are NOT cheap. You'll see when you get here. You know when you go to Kohl's or TJ Max back home and look on the tag at the "retail price" (which is like 30-40% more than the sale price) and laugh to yourself, thinking who would pay that? Well, in Korea you will. Clothes and food are two things that are way more expensive here than the States. I wish I loaded up on clothes before I came.
A cheap little jacket that you'd get for 30 bucks back home is 70-80 won here. It's a joke.
And the person who suggested Myeongdong shopping district has to know the quality is pisspoor. Ever pair of jeans, literally, I've bought something has gone wrong with. The zipper breaks all the time, the logo on the belt loop in the back will rip off, etc. The style of clothes here is better than home but you'll pay through the nose.

I'm not sure which street vendor you buy your clothes from in Myeongdong, but I never had a problem with any clothes that I brought from a store there. The stores I named on the earlier post all sell good quality clothes. Sure, if you want to go with clothes you can buy in America you can shop at the GAP. But, you'll be paying a shat load of money for it.

I can't even find SOCKS to fit me, let alone regular clothes. I'd like a new teaching wardrobe for Spring/Summer, something classy for hot weather, but I have no idea where to go! Don't live anywhere near Foreignerville (aka Seoul). I'd be willing to make a day trip though, if there was some certainty I could find what I needed.

Always pay attention to the discounted bargains when it comes to buying clothes. Quite simple really. I got a French brand suit at an affordable price thanks to a discount event last year.

Put it this way, I went to the Superdry store in Gangnam the other day. I have one polo-shirt that they were selling for 2/3 extra of the cost of buying the same polo-shirt in the UK. I realise there's import, etc., but 2/3 extra? Ludicrously expensive. People say buy Korean when it comes to clothes but it's difficult when so many of the stores sell rubbish.

Just saying... this is not a prefect solution for everyone:

I've pretty much given up on Seoul prices and Korean sizes; I get all my clothes from upscale department stores in Bangkok during the Winter holidays. That's sales season and I end up paying 20-60% less for branded clothing, the stores have a much much wider choice of brands and styles, and sizes up to XXXL (not that I need that many X's yet).

Even the Winter selection is much better than in Korea - apparently there are now enough affluent Thais who travel to cooler climates.

Last Winter I went with next to zero luggage and came back with 55 kilos. Bangkok (or most places outside of Korea) is also a great place to stock up on 100/200 bottles of Tylenol (for weekends), generously dimensioned condoms, genuine Viagra knock-offs from India and foreign foods that you can't find in the Seoul expat markets.

Hong Kong would be another logical choice. If you only wear jeans and lumberjack shirts, you can find all that in all sizes in Itaewon (or use the local tailors).
