Has anyone had much success selling on here? or would you recommend craiglist? I just had like the 4th or 5th person drop out on a sell like hours before after the sell was set for like more then a week. Don't tell me you want to buy my stuff people if your just gonna back out like and hour ahead time after I adjusted my schedule to meet you. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Not only that, but there's a 50/50 split between really nice, flexible, reasonable people who are a pleasure to deal with, and absolute morons who should have their passports confiscated.

People who can't keep appointments, people who can't find your phone number in the OP, people who PM inane questions, and ask you to email them pictures of small items that they're getting for cheap after you specifically aks not be be PMed or asked to be emailed.

i've bought things on here with no problem. i've sold things on craigslist with relatively no problem as well, one thing about CL though, is that you have to deal with scammers replying to your ad asking bs questions lke "will you ship internationally' and "will you accept western union"..f outta here with that nonsense!

50/50 success rate for me.

First time I wanted to buy a set of ESL books. After trekking halfway across Seoul and calling the guy to say that I had arrived at the meeting point, he tells me he can't find the books all of a sudden. Evil or Very Mad

Second time I bought an electric keyboard and made same-day arrangements to pick it up. Easy-peasy and hassle-free.

I've mostly been selling stuff recently, but I've been buying tons of stuff from craigslist and here for the last two years. In my experiences, there seems to be very little middle ground - The people are either really cool or complete mongoloids. I'd say that it's been a 70/30 split in favor of cool people, with the 30% of idiots mostly coming from craigslist.

Good Examples
I bought a book off of Dave's user jb99 not too long ago. After the purchase, I asked him offhandedly where the LotteMart was in his area. He took the time to walk me over to the place and had a nice chat along the way. Also, he's selling some A*Men cologne for a ridiculous discount, so check it out. I also sold a keyboard/mouse to PRagic not too long ago, and it was a pleasure doing business with him. I have tons of other examples, but these were the most recent.

Bad Examples
I'm selling some used American Crew Forming Cream at the moment *cough* CHEAP PLUG *cough* and I had some retard on craigslist asking me if the amount used was comparable to either an American dime, quarter, or teaspoon. Are you $%#!ing kidding me?! The difference between the circumference of a dime or quarter is a deal-breaker?!
I was also one of the guys ripped off for Xbox games by dkoryo awhile back, but luckily it wasn't too much cash compared to most.

EDIT: I originally thought it was the difference between a dime and nickel, but it was between a dime and quarter. Big difference. Rolling Eyes

Most of my sells are successful, however I also simultaneously post in like 3 or 4 other forums, plus a newsletter, so I'm never quite sure where the buyer comes from unless I ask, or contact is made via the eslcafe PM system. However, the half dozen or so I can remember that have been done via PM here, have been with good people and with relatively smooth success. Granted it takes some work and sifting through 5 other members asking questions and then disappearing, but a solid buyer usually comes along.

One thing I don't like about Dave's ESL is the constant need to flame and trash people's threads. There's always someone out there dissing posts leaving retarded comments, giving some unasked for opinion like "if I were you, I'd do it this way...", or straight up spreading lies in one way or another . I've been lucky enough not to have it done to me too often, but I see it a lot on here, and the one time it did happen to me (bamboozler during my DVD selling for example), gawd was it annoying, I wish I could have found and strangled that guy, it was just a time waster and added trash to a perfectly polite and straight forward thread count. So aside from the trash talkers and inevitable but understandable lowballers, I've had success with my sales on here - and I don't even live in Seoul, I live in Daejeon, and all my items are usually shipped, so I've dealt with people who even put enough faith in me to pay before shipping. There's lot of good trustworthy people out there, they are just scattered within the general flamer/retard/rude population. I guess you just have to get used to it.

On my experience, I haven't sold on Dave's site but I do deal with more than one seller's in daves and craigs site, I should say 60/40 60 for those people whom I have good deals and 40 for those morons who didn't even make a simple message and tell I am not going to sell my items because I want a bigger price for this.

Some other things that frustrates me is that some people are selling their items much more of the price they spend on the day they bought it (e.g. LCD HD Monitor, PC spare parts etc.) you cannot expect people to ask to lessen the price because not all are stupid enough that they do not know the current market price in korea.
Whether you bought it in Korea or in the U.S the thing is that the value of the item has already depreciated...

in the end, please be fair, whether you are a seller or a buyer everyone should benefit equally. CHEERS [^^,]

Ebay skims off money as profit. Also, ebay isn't really set up for 1 on 1 meetings. I'm not sure about how the delivery tracking system would work either. Its actually a good idea, but there are logistics problems.
