Two questions:

I shoot a lot around Seoul (pictures, mind you). Does anyone know if it's legal to take candid shots of people and use the photos for profit?

Also, has anyone been able to obtain press passes in Korea for concerts? Say, for some Western bands who play at the Olympics gym?

Seoul Photo Club on Flickr might be a better place to get answers to your questions

Just as in any other country, your photos can be sold for profit for news/documentary, fine art and educational purposes but not for advertising and commercial purposes without a signed release.

Press passes are possible but only if you have good connections or a great resume as a freelance photographer -AND- are working on a story with a specific company/magazine, etc. You cannot get a press pass because MAYBE you'll take your prosumer DSLR and turn it into a money maker by selling photographs of Eric Clapton. You could get a press pass if you already had a media outlet who had contracted with you for those Eric Clapton photos and you were able to prove that to the concert venue AND they still had press passes left for the caliber of media outlet you are working for (there are usually a limited number of press passes but for a top magazine or newspaper, they'll make it happen).

All of this information could be found out pretty easily if instead of asking a bunch of ESL teachers, you'd gone on a photographer's forum. (Where you'll get about the same info, I worked freelance for 10 years and I still take commissions).
