In the event that the federal government in the U.S. can't reach an agreement on spending cuts by March 4th (leading to a government shutdown), will the U.S. embassy in Seoul close? I don't know if that happened in '95 or '96 (years which hosted past gov't shutdowns), but I do know that thousands of visa applications went unprocessed each day of the shutdowns.

I've got a personal reason to be annoyed as the fiancee is this close to getting her K1 visa and this will be more time we have to spend apart. Crying or Very sad [/i]

Some services might be stopped or slowed down, but embassies don't simply shut down unless there is a case of full blown war and the workers need to get out of the country.

based on info from the last shut down all non-essential us embassy activities would be shut down (ie acs services like passport renewal etc, visa issuance etc) if for some reason the north did something stupid the embassy would attempt to get us out

if you need something done like pages added to your passport or a renewal i'd get it done this week. i'm sure those of you on the embassy's email list will get better information in the march message on mon or weds
