I hear ya. And I don't think most Korean women find the "you're so un-Korean" to be terribly flattering. It's kind of a backhanded compliment. Like "Hey, you're pretty interesting... for a Korean."

I wouldn't call it racism exactly, but it's a type of prejudice.

I also sympathize, though, with the guy who lost a Korean girlfriend with whom he really connected, and now faces the daunting prospect of finding another one who can compare.

lowest point:
The first time I lived abroad. It was my big dream to live in France. Unfortunately it was not everything I had hoped. Before I'd even left, my boyfriend dumped me. I couldn't make any friends because none of my American/Canadian/Irish coworkers ever wanted to go out. I didn't get adjusted to the new diet (of bread bread bread) and as a result gained about 25 pounds.

2nd lowest point:
right about now. good thing I'm leaving and moving to a different city. I hate my boss. I hate my coworkers and I don't have anymore friends here. Was supposed to meet up with a guy on Saturday and got stood up. Get in a taxi and the song on the radio was "All by Myself"...yeah...that was the highlight of well...my month.

I'm happy that I'm leaving because the change will be good for me.
