Thinking seriously about getting this when it comes out.

Question... If I actually buy this thing and then move back to the US, would I be able to use it on one of the carriers over there?
If not, then I'm not sure if the price would be worth it.

Just beautiful.

lol this looks like my galaxy s ...not sure they even have a real picture of it yet

and yes, you can use it overseas, but most likely only on 2G network because of the different frequency used in Korea

it's the same with Galaxy S that you can buy now, so i doubt that will change

2G? I thought the Galaxy S was at least 3G....what networks are 2G in the US, anyway?

they're all 2g. some are 3g too

you probably won't be able to use 3g because of the frequency difference between Korea and America, which is basically the same problem that Galaxy S has like I said before.

basically, don't expect to have a high speed internet connection if you go to US with this phone. although there's a slight chance that it might be possible

Depends on your provider. The Galaxy S will work on most Canadian networks in 3G, should be able to work on AT&T as well. I can't imagine the Galaxy S 2 supporting different frequencies. 850/1900mhz is supported in the Korean release of the S.

Canadian 3g works on a different frequency from the Korean network, so it's impossible to use it as of now.

only 2g is usable from what I've heard.

This has been thoroughly discussed in another thread about taking Galaxy S overseas.

Whether the same applies to S2, only time will show.

I just hope it's actually significantly better than the first model, otherwise there's no point to upgrade.

Umm the Korean M110s model supports: Network - 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 (2G)
- 850 / 1900 / 2100 (3G HSDPA)

Why wouldn't the UMTS which is 850 / 1900 work on Rogers for 3G under the same frequencies? You can confirm that the Galaxy S does not support both HSDPA and HSPA? That would be a silly exception on Samsung's part if it were true. I'll be able to test mine on Rogers in the coming months as proof either way.

*edit, either way the UMTS supports 850 / 1900, 3G should work just fine on it on another network supporting the same frequencies.

with support for 1900 the Samsung Galaxy S 2 will work on AT&T in the United States just fine assuming it is in fact unlocked

EDIT: T-Mobile runs on the 1700/2100 band and AT&T uses 850/1900 so it looks like the Galaxy S 2 will work on either carrier with optimal coverage/support on AT&T (seeing as it lacks the 1700 frequency that T-Mobile uses).
