I guess the bigger question would be:Why would you even care?

2MB = the President of Korea (Lee Myeong Bak)

I got two offensive remarks from members that I have a bad grammar this week. And I got another offensive remark from a guy when we discussed about 2MB.

I'm not really in the mood today. Sorry.

This is Dave ESL cafe, you gotta have tough skin when you're posting in this forum. Sarcasm, rudeness, narcissism is rampant around here. Watch out for the grammar nazis, they are the worst.

"is rampant", should be 'are rampant'................ Laughing

see what I mean?...... Rolling Eyes

Sentence fragment......That should be, "do you see what I mean?"

Rolling Eyes

Eamo on top form.

Also I'd say to the OP that this is Dave's. You gotta be able to roll with the punches. Understand that everyone here in a way is sorta a big family. I mean you get people and all sides of the spectrum, but really we're reacting to the excesses of the other. People who seem like they are ripping are not necessarily haters. I'd say it takes a good year of posting on here before you get a good sense of the regular posters and where they lie and even then, like I said, often they are just responding to excesses or pushing a niche issue. The point is what makes Dave's great is when you get into the whole "family" aspect of it and you are able to recognize each individual poster and their personality and can argue with them and go back and forth but at the end of the day understand that they contribute something to this form and prevent it from being dull and a bunch of non-offensive, middle of the road, postings of emptiness.

At least people here are somewhat real. All shapes, all sizes.

So really. Does anybody really hate me?

Are you talking about in person or on this forum?

Things could get tough for a gyopo here, but if your Korean is half decent you should be fine.

If you're talking about this forum, I think gyopos are treated like any other foreigner unless you try to do what they perceive to be as defending Korea, then you're their worst enemy.

If you're an English teacher and you have bad grammar you should be called out on it every single time.

This post is rolling-in-the aisle, screechingly funny. You should write movie scripts. You are like a post, post mod Kermit, lol.

To the OP: Is there any hope for you at all, seriously?

As far as employment, I think a lot of gyopos get an unfair shake because there is an overabundance of Overseas koreans or recently immigrated
Koreans masquerading as eesay gyopos.

OP, I'm going to guess that you immigrated to America in elementary school or middle school.

In the first sentence you added 'a' when you should have said "have bad grammar"

In the second sentence you added 'about' when you should have said "discussed 2MB"

So, honestly, until you're ready to stop making errors, expect that a bunch of people who are trying to assert their ability to teach English (despite a lack of formal training in the majority of cases) will get on your case... esp. if they had a bad day.

Right. As has been pointed out by those actually responding to the OP, this is good English for someone raised in Korea, but worse grammar than most high-school educated native English speakers. Your race really doesn't have anything to do with it.

Also true. I am white, and a very light drinker. I've noticed exactly how he describes it on many, many occasions. Just callin' them like I saw them. Never once in five years saw a Korean guy cockblock anyone that didn't have it coming. That doesn't mean however, that there aren't rude Korean guys that get in the middle of a white guy and his date just because you and I have never witnessed it. I will agree with the 90%. Most Gyopos are very cool and friendly. As long as you're not an ahole, most will treat you decently.

Well, it was seen not long ago that any Korea that left Korea was not a Korean, he couldnt have the "jeong" with the other Koreans or he didnt have to go to the army, so he couldnt share the same experiences, which basically, makes sense here, because guys dont bound over hobbies or interests like we do in the west, the bond over what groups they belong too.

I feel bad for any gyopo, esp if their parents still have the idea that a Korean is a Korean, so kyopo girls may feel they have to marry a K-guy but the culture is waaaaaay different. Us kyopo girls would largely NOT want to kiss here MIL tail and the guys? well, they have this major guilt thing of not being "Korean" enough went they get old enough to have to "honor" their fathers.

Korea is one hell of a controlled society, much more than Japan (who have alot more individual freedom) and China (also, being such a big, mobile country, with the new feeling of a rising world star).

Korea is a fine place. They need to learn English, we can teach it, but I dont think any signifigant change will happen for at least one or two more generations. At least, until everyone born b4 1988 are gone and its all memories...they all have a havey stone around their necks called Korea...

That's too bad about the gyopo thing. It truly is. I don't particularly like being called "weiguk," but it is what it is. Suffer, dude.
