My Central Ohio wishlist.

A 1/4 lb. Peanut Butter Easter Egg from Anthony Thomas
Amish Pies from Der Dutchman
Chili Hot Chocolate Ice Cream from Jeni's
A dozen glazed from Buckeye Donuts

I will also have to wish for the chance to go for a long ride on the bike that I left at home as all of these treats would add up to major calories.

Salt and Vinegar chips.

Yes, they are available in certain places in Itaewon or on base, but I would love for them to be widely available at a reasonable price.

1/2 dozen brie and pesto oysters, 1/2 dozen natural oysters, the territory platter, and the 250g kangaroo fillet, done rare, at "Wisdom" in the Darwin CBD. With a bottle of red wine and my wife.

Bunch of proper Canadian beers done on Richmond Str., finished with a poutine from Sammy's Souvlaki in downtown London, Ontario, Canada.

A & W Mozza burger with a poutine on the side and root beer.

KFC's version of the poutine, "french fry soup" (unbelievably good).

Back bacon and cheddar on a bun.

Any proper home-cooked meal made by my mom. I left my parent's home at 18 and infrequently visit, and still now, 30, daydream sometimes about my mom's cooking.

1. Great Lakes Christmas Ale

I drank the hell out of a case when I went home for Christmas this year and it was much missed.

Where exactly can I find american chips in Namdaemun? I've only been to that one 'underground' market and they didn't have anything. Can anyone point me to the right place?

Decent pho and a Bahn Mi. It's amazing how much better Vietnamese food is when it's cooked by and for Vietnamese people. Some of the pho here tastes like warmed-up mul naengmyeon.

Try some of the 'Halal' world supermarkets for Thai green curry paste & other goodies. They usually advertise international phone cards out the front. For months, I was put off by the 'halal' sign out the front, but when I finally went inside my local shop, it was split up into Thai, Filipino, Sri Lankan, Indonesian, Vietnamese & Indian food. Heaven! And yes, there was 'halal' lamb & mutton.

Real Mexican food made by real Mexicans. Like in my hometown. $8 for 2 Chile Rellenos, pollo boracho, refried beans and salad with sour cream and guacamole. Plus unlimited flour tortillas, not that stupid stadium round ish.

Whole grain bread.

The longer I've stayed here the less I miss the food from back home. I have found substitutes for most of it and a lot of the items I first missed can be found if you know where to look. I get enough cheese from home each time someone visit that I don't have to buy anything locally, but I've yet not been able to find anything that resembles good whole-grain bread. The only whole grain bread I've found is Pumpernickel, which can be nice for variation, but is not my favourite. I don't dislike the taste of the walnut rye bread from HomePlus or Paris Baguette, but it's still just tasty white bread and not whole-grain bread.
