Hey everyone.
I've been living in Korea with my girlfriend for 7 months now. I have an A.A. and am taking distance classes with a university back in the States towards a B.A.. The girlfriend is at a hagwon right now, but is looking at switching to public school through EPIK for our second contract. If we do that, I'd like to try to get a TaLK placement at the same time so that we have two incomes. Has anyone ever applied to TaLK from within Korea? Can it be done? I'd rather not have to go spend a lot of time away in the USA working on background checks etc if I can avoid it.
Edit! I'm here on the 90 day visa waiver for US citizens. Not on the dependent/spouse thing. I could be soon if someone wants to donate various trappings of a marriage proposal.
Thanks for any assistance!

sounds like you have f visa. if so, you should be able to apply in korea provided that you have all the documents notorized and apostilled (i.e. transcript/aa degree, CRC, etc.) |

Ah, I'm just here on the 90 day tourist deal for Americans. I fly out to Japan every so often to renew it. I imagine the CRC and piles of notarized/apostilled stuff are near impossible to get done without heading home. It was infuriating enough doing it when we were still there!
Thanks for the reply in any case. I'm gonna contact the TaLK people soon to find out if it's even likely that we can get an EPIK and TALK placement in the same city reliably. |

The only problem I've heard about TALK is the living situation. Just reporting what others, in TALK, have told me. |

I've heard the same. But they will give you the standard 400k extra if you want to get your own apartment, so we'll be taking that and staying in the apartment that the girlfriend gets through EPIK. Assuming we can coordinate all this anyway. |

I got turned down for TALK because I wasn't qualified enough.
Then I got accepted to EPIK, which pays more.
Oh well, who said it was all supposed to make sense? |

Better get started on your paperwork. It's a long process.
