I'll book a flight rather soon. I'm curious about bringing among my checked baggage some personal vitamin tablets, nutritional powders, ibuprofen, etc. Basically, pretty non-controversial stuff. But... in opened containers.

Would simply be a few containers packed away neatly among my other belongings in a box.

If customs agents do scrutinize every individual item entering the country from the US (and I have no idea if they would), then I'd prefer to keep the process relatively simple.

Even though I reasonably could, I'd prefer to avoid re-ordering in Korea.

Unless you are bringing something that a drug dog will pick up on it is a non-issue for entry into Korea.

Getting out of the states is another matter.

Thanks, that's good to consider.

I initially thought to ask the question because I had been warned of peculiar, seemingly arbitrary rules at US airports. For example, only 'travel' sized toothpaste tubes are allowed?

I've not flown in years, so I haven't got a clear sense of how it is these days.

Outside the states it is a non-issue.

Going to/from/within the states you have the TSA and their stupidity to worry about.

Yeah, that's the 1 once bit for carry on. Checked luggage is another thing entirely. Bring all the toothpaste you like. And yes, the US security is the worst I have experienced anywhere for the 1 once/100 ml limits on carry on liquids and gels.
