My recruiter just received all my E2 documents on Monday, and they informed me that it takes about 2 weeks to process this before scheduling an interview with the Korean consulate. Then the flight is usually booked a week before the departure date.

Well I am scheduled to begin on the 17th. Is this realistic? Do I have any chance of making my contract time, or will I find myself stuck waiting out the bureaucracy? Has anyone found the 2 week processing time to be an over estimate or is that pretty accurate?

I would say 2 weeks is pretty accurate give or take a few days. It will take 4-5 business days for immigration to process the documents and another 5 business days to have your interview and receive your visa from the consulate.

Depending on the K-immi office and the consulate the typical spread is 12-21 days from application to Visa approval and getting your passport back.

Do NOT book your flight until you have your visa actually IN YOUR PASSPORT.

Thanks guys. Hopefully everything gets done in time for me to start the job. Guess I will just have to wait until I can have my consulate interview, and hope it comes sooner rather than later.

Be warned the consulate can take as long as they want to give you a visa.
They can also deny you even though immi in Korea has cleared you.

So don't be rushed into booking anything until that visa sticker is in your passport.

I got my VISA confirmation number today. My documents made it to Korea last Monday, so it took a week and a half.

Hope this helps
