|
|
Hi,
I'm teaching a couple uni level classes (writing/speaking & listening) and I want to show youtube clips at the beginning of each class to get them thinking. Also, for the writing class, I want to do a quick write after each video.
The kids are pretty high-level so the English can be a little difficult.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!! |

I love journeymanpictures channel - if you want serious, factual documentary stuff. |

If you do anything on voice control, then 'green eggs and ham' by Jesse Jackson is great to show students how speakers can control what they say.

Why not consider EnglishCentral? Use their videos in class (you can get most of them on youtube) and then students can practice on http://www.englishcentral.com on their own, speaking the video and lines.
If you get ambitious, register as a teacher, invite students and track how many videos they watch, lines recorded etc...
There is also my list of top 100 youtube videos for teaching languages. It's on the right sidebar of my blog. http://ddeubel.edublogs.org/
But good idea - authentic video if done properly, really fosters strong contextualized acquisition.

As a side note, as connected as Korea is, the connections at universities can be slow so it is a good idea to download the videos ahead of time using youtube downloader or a similar program. Buffering problems can kill a video, i.e., students will get bored easily.
