|

I am currently confused as to whether or not I need to file taxes back home in the states. I have been at my public school since late august.
If I do need to file taxes how do I request my school to give me a W2 or korean equivalent and how exactly do I file the taxes.
Please any and all help would be appreciated |

Go to the irs web site and download the forms 1040 and 2555(foreign earned income). There is a requirement for lengh of stay to qualify for exempt status on foreign income. I think it is 330 days, but I'm not sure. Foreign income is exempt up to $90,000. I have never provided a W2. But if you can get one from your school it is probably a good idea. There is also an H&R Block office near Itaewon that will do your taxes for about 60,000 won. I just sent mine in yesterday. Good luck. |

FYI, you can get an automatic extension through August, but you do have to file it. I may get around to it..... |
