Wherever I go, in every 1 in 4 conversations, the girls/women talk about plastic surgery!

Some place are even giving tours to foreigners. Translators and all!

Thoughts?

It may be hard still to compete with the other international plastic surgery markets, but having translators on hand is a good start. I don't know what the facilities are like and couldn't seem to Google a site.
I know they are building a medical resort here on Jeju for plastic surgery, weightloss clinics, etc. Medical tourism could be very good for Korea. Of course, they will have to work hard to beat Thailand in price, quality, and comfort for breast enhancements. My friend told me they got that *expletive* nailed.

^^I agree that medical tourism could be big for Korea. If they wanted to beat Thailand, I think they should probably go down the high-class/quality route; I've heard some horror stories from Thailand regarding lax doctors and poor quality materials used for breast augmentation.

When I worked in Japan a few years ago, some of the housewives I taught would go over to Korea for a weekend, just for shopping and plastic surgery. (You can imagine the marvellous deep and meaningful conversations I had with those women!)

So... are Thai breast surgeries dangerous? I'm toying with the idea of buying myself the perfect pair while I'm down here in Asia, but I'd hate to end up as a cautionary tale in Marie Claire.

I was shocked the number of plastic surgeries in Gangnam. So many... Anyway I heard Korean medical service is safer and advanced than Thai. I am checking all the infos these days. Still Korea is cheaper than States or Canada but highly skilled. Plastic Surgeries are so common here in Korea.

I find this topic interesting-- I use it as a lesson in my conversation classes, and it's a hit with almost all levels!

Here are some more interesting tidbits about this phenomenon-- A bit dated, but still interesting--

Yes, I have thoughts. I've noticed ads in the newspaper for "six pack" surgery. Do any of these "girls/women" you're referring to express any interest in "six pack" surgery? I've love to see the results ;-0)

I think six pack surgery is for men...but it sounds very abnormal. SIx pack surgery aka liposuction?

Yes, I was only satirizing when I applied that notion to women. But the ad and picture are there everyday in the classified ads section of the Korea Times.

I have LASIK here in Korea and it was affordable, painless and I had a very quick recovery period. I had the procedure done over two years ago and the results have been awesome! Feel free to post any questions you have for me.
