Can anyone suggest good budget motel's in Seoul. Preferably close to major tourist areas and has some kind of option for guided tours and plenty of chances to meet up with other international folk?

And a very cheap place to get a prepaid cell phone??

I was thinking the Hamilton Hotel but that place gets seedy at night.

A good friend is flying in from Egypt, really helped me out when I was studying there. It's time to return the favor. For family reasons, I can't let him stay at my place and I live about a 1 and a half hour commute from Seoul, so he'll need to be good hands. I can take him out at night, just need to keep him occupied during the day.

I'm gonna cover the costs for his motel, prepaid cell phone, and any good tour packages it's the least I can do.

Please offer suggestions

http://www.yehadoye.com/US/guest/guest_index.jsp - this guesthouse just off Insadong is by far the nicest guest house I've stayed in anywhere in the world. Private rooms but a shared bathroom. I stayed there for 2 weeks a few years ago and got to know the other people coming in and out very easily.

Failing that, http://www.hotelwide.com seems to be a decent site for finding budget hotels. They also provide phone rental.

Is it possible to get the prepaid phones myself, pay for it with my card and just hand it off to him?

He comes from one of the smaller cities, Tanta. I'm more worried about culture and lifestyle shock than anything else. For that, hostel might be better than a motel. There's lots of other travelers to talk with, and if I pay extra maybe I can get him a private bathroom.
