Came to Korea August 2009, worked for YBM for one year. Then, all you needed was a state wide background check(apostilled) and my diploma.
2010 I sign with GnB. I heard of all the new crazy immigration laws so I just wanted to find a new job and transfer my paperwork, time was running out to do so, and I kind of took the first thing that seemed semi acceptable.
I would work for two different GnB locations, owned by 2 different directors who were best friends. One MWF, the other T/TH.
However when I did my immigration paperwork, I'm pretty sure only one school was listed, my MWF campus. T/TH lady doesn't speak English, so I never could talk to her about contract things.MWF was my main lady.
The end of February, I realize I'm not on the T/TH school schedule. I ask someone to talk to the director for me, the director says to call my other boss, she will explain it. I find out that day was my last day of work. T/TH campus is closing their kindergarten, only the elementary portion will remain open, so they can't afford me anymore. Main lady(MWF) had known for a week but didn't tell me, because she didn't want me to worry while she found me another school.
She says she found another GnB to take me..but...
My base salary was 2.2 but I was getting overtime making it 2.5
At the new location I will not be working as much and not get any overtime.
which sucks, but makes sense.
However, now the new GnB location is asking for an FBI criminal background check..which I think is impossible to get while I'm in Korea??
They also want an apostilled Degree..also impossible??
My main director says there is no change to my actual visa, I will not be going to immigration, this is just for the new GnB's records.
I know GnB pays severance each month, so I asked for the T/TH location's portion of this.
I told them I thought getting this paperwork would be difficult or impossible, and if possible, very costly. They pretty much didn't listen and said go get it, their recruiter said it was possible so they aren't listening to me.
I'm scared if I can't get this paperwork the new location won't accept me, and I'll be super screwed with only half a salary.

Tell him it's impossible.
Be ready to leave if you have to.
Your new boss may reconsider if he realizes that you can't comply. |

Agreed. If one place won't let you continue, get out of both. If the MWF boss likes you enough, he'll go to bat for you against the other school. If he doesn't, no loss. |

if it is for their records a photocopy would be more than enough. As far as immigration are concerned you should be able to add the new school to your visa without any new paperwork. |

OP, you are extremely out of the loop when it comes to these new visa regulations.
Check the stickies on diploma apostillization and the one on the new FBI CRC which needs to be apostilled as well.
From what I heard is that once you get your fingerprints and all of the forms together to send in, that once they receive it that it takes a good 6-8 weeks to process and then extra time to send back. |

It sounds like a part-time job with all the benefits (except pay) of a full-time job would be pretty cool. Who wouldn't want a couple extra days off? |

That's a dilemma.
