Sounds like Kandy is a must. Hill country.
Hikkaduwa - is that the best beach to go to?
Colombo....any major things to see there? I heard most of Sri Lanka is quite quiet come evening time...any exception in Colombo?
Beyond Kandy, Hikkaduwa, and Colombo...and other must sees for Sri Lanka? |

Here's an earlier thread on Sri Lanka.
I only flew in and out of Colombo. Hikkaduwa has quite a lengthy stretch of beach with not many people to share it with. Doublecheck when the monsoons will hit that side of Sri Lanka, though. |

One interesting factoid is that cinnamon actually is originally from Sri Lanka. |

I must admit it's somewhere i've always wanted to go. The people must be amazingly resilient. With the civil war, 2004 Tsunami and this years January's floods that left about 1 million people homeless.
It seems to have something for everyone whatever you tastes and cheap to boot.
I'm seriously thinking about going there sometime soon to check it out |
