Can someone please give me directions to craftworks and oktoberfest??
I've got the thirst for some proper beer!!!
I've been to Castle Praha and their beer isn't bad but nothing fantastic.
Cheers! |

Oktoberfest in Gangnam station?
Exit 5, make the second right (not the street with smoothy king). I think there's that new wavy looking building there. After making a right, walk up like 20m maybe and it should be on your right in the basement. |

The IPA is awesome. I got to try it when the brewer dropped a sample off. Can't wait for a full pint.. |

No worries! On Saturday, actually, there's a special event with all sorts of home-brewers and other foodies. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=125648267508829 |

| Does Craftworks sell beer by the case, i.e. for takeout and home consumption? I'm definitely a beer person but no so much a bar person. |

Craftworks is the perfect place, IMO. It has micro-brew beer that is not only cheap, but delicious! I could drink that stuff everyday if I lived nearby. And the food is excellent too, and not too over-priced. Another poster said that Craftworks leveled up the weigookin establishments? Have to agree on that one!
The staff is quite friendly there, and very eager to help you and take your order. I also find the place to be quite a nice atmosphere. Seems a good group of expats go there. But it does get pretty busy, but not annoyingly so.
Oh, and pretty good music selection last time I went too.
Craftworks gets a well deserved 10/10 from me. |

| Platinum use to run an all you could drink special with five of their micro-beers. They weren't all awesome but three were very solid. Also it was like 15,500 I think and it was for four hours give or take. Also they had a bunch of food half off during that time frame. I think it ran from like 5-9. I first read about it in one of those English newspapers that you can pick up in Itaewon for free. It has been a few years but it was an awesome place. |

He's the same guy that runs the Ka-Brew events right?
I went to one and he explained how the big brewers(cass/hite) collaborated to create highly restrictive bottling laws. Laws that somehow prevent small brewers from bottling and selling their stuff. So you gotta buy it on tap.
Makes me wonder if you could buy it by the keg though.
Maybe someone else knows more about this...
I'm really excited about the event on saturday. I'm hopin someone will be serving pumpernickel.... |

It is places like these that make me so glad I live in the Seoul area. I can't imagine what it must be like to live somewhere in the wilderness like Daejon, Daegu or some other backwater burb. I also can't understand why these people say their little hickville community is so good. Maybe to make themselves feel better. This kind of place only solidifies "Cohiba's Rule".
BTW: The fish and chip place next to Craftworks is also great. |

No wonder. It's unfortunate. Korea could be a good place for beer, but it sadly isn't... Cuz of the big brewers. Shame on them! |

There's a place that sells microbrews in Sinchon called 악어를 풀어놔봐 (Free Crocodiles). I haven't been there in ages but I still see the sign so it must still be in biz.
