I've have some gyopo friends who want to start teaching advanced biz privates(they worked a corporate job back home). They've just arrived and want some extra work outside of teaching kiddies.

If folks here could message me some email addresses that would be great.

I'll be slightly nicer. OP, private tutoring in Korea is illegal on the E-series visa. Your friends are (supposedly) gyopo, so this doesn't apply to them. BUT, it is against board policy to discuss private tutoring.

Furthermore, your friends want to make some extra cash--why should anybody on this board just hand it to them? For those who can LEGALLY (*ahem*) teach them, private lessons are a goldmine. I just want you to think about why anybody in the know would gladly share this information with a stranger, instead of exploiting the opportunity himself or passing it along to his friends. I can't think of any reasons at all.

I didn't ask for private gigs, I said recruiters.

C'mon, those guys need all the people they can get Razz

Anyway, they asked me if I knew any and I said I'd ask here.
About time they found their own stuff anyway.

Hey - I work for Footprints, and though many recruiters out there have bad reputations, can you imagine a recruiter who actively went around and specifically put teachers in positions where they would be in direct violation of the terms of their visa? Showing up on a tourist visa and a visa run to Japan/Guam is one thing, but a recruiter that actively sets you up with private gigs is another.

I taught in Korea, as have most on these boards, and I am well aware that teaching privates is a common practice. As a recruiter, however, it is our obligation to specifically tell you that you really shouldn't teach privates because you are putting yourself at risk.

What you do of your own accord, and the choices you make on your own are one thing, but I'd be wary of any recruiter who would be willing to set you up with private jobs.

Is private tutoring illegal under an F-4 visa?
